Santa Fe Navigation Screen won't boot up, constantly "loading"

I have a problem with the central console navigation screen on my 2015 Santa Fe. Starting in November 2018, the nav screen would take several attempts to "load" before it finally became functional. Once it booted, it worked fine. The problem disappeared last summer as soon as the weather got warmer, but then recurred last fall. I lived with it over the winter thinking it would correct itself again this summer but no dice. If anything, the problem is worse--I will sometimes drive for a half hour with the screen repeatedly "loading" until eventually, finally, it finishes the process. Very frustrating, as bluetooth, navigation, radio controls, heating/air-conditioning controls are all non-functional as long as this boot-up process is going on.

Anyone else run into this? Possible solutions? Thanks.

My 2014 Santa Fe Limited has been trying to load for the last month but never succeeds. I'm still able to manipulate the radio and climate controls, but no visual feedback possible from the infotainment screen.

Does any third party vendor offer a replacement unit for my year and model or are we all just stuck looking for a used OEM on ebay?

Or does anyone have an operating system "hack" that can be performed on the existing unit to bypass the "Bluelink Loading" screen?

look for used unit on ebay, direct swap, fraction of the cost, u can get one for about 400-500, make sure is the same mode, year, amp connection for direct swap

Update on the previous problem. I took the vehicle to our local Hyundai dealer. They tried: 1. Removing and then re-inserting the SD card, 2. Using a pin to hit the "reset" button on the unit, and 3. Disconnecting and re-connecting the battery. (I had already tried # 1 and #2 at home with no success). They also had no success on all three, so they have concluded that I need a new radio/navigation console, and quoted me $5000 for installing a new one. I am looking for more reasonable options.

The same thing is now happening to my Santa Fe 2016 with 75000 miles.
What did you figure out for your car? Seems like this is somewhat common issue as there are several of same types of complaints about different Hyundais in the 2014-1018 years with this type of deterioration of the navigation/entertainment/radio unit. Would sure like to hear what other's have figured out. And why Hyundai is not addressing this.

2016 Santa fe ltd.. 57000m. same problem started on 8/22/24 . Just came from the hyundai dealer...they say hyundai sent out a notice that it is because of the shutdown of 3G cell service. I have an extended warranty but service doesn't know what to do. They are waiting for guidance from hyundai.
BTW it worked perfectly after 5 minutes this morning. Until I shut down the car. Then same blue screen of death.
HELP HYUNDAI!!!!!!!

We just solved our "Loading..." Issue. Our 2016 Santa Fe Sport began getting stuck in the boot sequence in 2021. At first it was just a few minutes "loading..." but after a while it began taking up to 10-20 minutes before the sofware would finally advance to the main screen. This also seemed to affect the guidance lines for the reverse camera for some reason. The dealership had no solutions but offered to do a diagnostic for $140. The online Hyundai software update tool didn't offer an update for our vehicle due to it's age but I was able to finally connect with a company called MapnSoft, who designs software for the navigation system. I was able to provide them with my VIN and current software version and they sent me a software update (preloaded SD card) for $25 plus shipping. After changing the SD card for the current one (and waiting over an hour for the system to boot) I was able to successfully update the software and everything seems to work just fine. Not sure why the dealership wouldn't know about this or be able to provide the software update (even for $25) on site. Dumb. Anyway, hope this helps. It did for me.

They have the map updates, correct? I think the update may be a complete system Image, but I could be wrong..
I know your settings are lost when the update is loaded, so it could clear things up.

Hyundai dealer told me that they could swap the unit out for $3000+ and it was not covered under my 2014 Santa Fe warranty or any recall. I solved the problem by buying a used unit for $500 on eBay and replaced it myself (very simple project). Just make sure you are buying the "exact" same model number as the unit you are replacing (model number is on the backside of the unit). Here is a great link on how to pull the head unit out of your vehicle:

Good Luck!

I had the exact same problem, booted after 5-10 minutes after being in the summer sun. Once the temperature dropped, continuous loading screen. Found a company that repaired my head unit for about $525, took 5 minutes to remove and they turned it around in a week. I was told they replace the processor in the unit and reprogram. Very satisfied, the dealer quoted $3000. You can find them on eBay or contact directly. Company name is Original Car Audio, 12105 12th Ave South, Burnsville, MN 55337. Phone 952-707-6200 ask for John or OEM Factory Original Car Audio Radio Stereo DVD Player Navigation Replacement and Repair. Hope this helps.

I recently bought a used Santa Fe 2016 and it has the exact issue. The system takes 15-20 mins to load and is very laggy. Worst part is that it is set to some default radio station at very high volume and we can't lower the sound. All we can do is to keep pressing the reset button. I'm based in India and the dealership is quite confused on this. Not any help at all. Looking at DIY ideas.

There is an extensive discussion of this problem here :

Some had success updating the firmware software. I personally was able to buy a refurbished unit on eBay and installed the unit myself. My Navigation screen is now back to normal and everything works perfectly.

Hope that helps!

I have a 2016 Santa Fe Limited Ultimate with the same issue. Two years ago, Hyundai replaced the unit under the extended warranty which I bought when I bought the lease out. A couple of months ago, am faced with the same issue: constantly "loading". Still looking for a solution as the warranty won't replace again (the unit costs over $3k).

I ended up buying a unit on eBay and everything is running back to normal. New hardware units will set you back $3000+. My used unit on eBay was only $500. Just make sure the unit you buy has the exact model number as the unit you are replacing. The model number is on the back of the unit so you have to pull the unit out of the dash.

Here is a link on how to pull out the unit:
