What happened in or around your Elantra today?

I was in rush hour this afternoon and when I stopped at a light a bird landed on my roof. It hopped around then started messing with the shark fin. When I started moving it flew off. I also got a good deal on a part from a guy on craigslist and found a route to work with less traffic than my usual way.

^^^ lmao!!!! I give you props for trying, but I don't understand why the driver of the Bimmer bother wasting his gas racing an E. When I'm cruising in my Bullitt, these punks try to race me all the time with their GTI's and Civics. I don't even bother looking over.

Not to steer way too OT here, but during the reign of my '91 Toyota MR2 (yellow, no less) I got a lot of people challenging to race me. Luckily they were usually punks driving Jettas and Civics, and I won out easily.

Same with Gen. Coupe; people always saw it, thought, "let's race," and it was certainly easy to kick their butt in it.

It's weird now driving this sleeper car and also being able to kick arse. But people don't challenge me to race. It's more like, "Oh, there's an electric car, let's pass it," and suddenly they can't.

Lol I can beat civics :p but idk either my car looks fast cause of my exhaust but thts really it must have mistake it with a genesis haha either way I thought it was fun :p
Haha...what?! Losing is NEVER fun!:p

Oh no! Scary, because if you say something, you will fear more repercussion, but if you keep quiet, then you let 'em win!

You know, this isn't the first instance I've heard of.

My aunt (single, very attractive, but workaholic and reclusive otherwise) worked at a restaurant, and for some reason the chef was some douchebag and not only threatened her but also stalked her.

At the time she had an early 2000's MR2 Spyder hardtop convertible. The evil chef threw some sort of acid on her paint. In a separate instance, he broke into her car and put honey all over her seats, gym bag, etc.

She got it all fixed, but seriously freaky. Needless to say, she no longer works at that restaurant.

Will you be reporting this vandalism to police, or will you just fix it and keep quiet?

1st service for 2013 Limited

I'm sitting in the comfortable waiting room at my Hyundai dealer for my 3750 mile service. My mileage has not been great ( 28mpg overall). I am hoping to do better after this oil change. The dealer told me not to expect very good mileage until 5000+ miles. We will see!

Unfortunately the low bumpers of our car attracts scrapes and scratches. I almost took a mudguard off a few weeks ago backing the car up the driveway.

Now you should be used to the car so future improvement of mpg will be based on driving style. We have some great tips here but the easiest thing to do is keep the rpm low and coast a lot.

My condolences, Clamp-It. Been there, had that done. Luckily, not with my Elantra; my current crop of neighbors has been really considerate.

(Some years back I had one of my (former) neighbors key almost every car in the lot in front of my apartment building, including mine, because somebody ratted him out for cooking meth and he was about to be evicted. He also got the landlord's PT Cruiser for good measure, and his significant other was caught red-handed pouring sugar into the gas tank of the maintenance guy's Dodge pickup. Needless to say, the eviction process accelerated.)

At the moment, Raven has more to fear from my driving, alas. I got into a curb tonight pulling into a parking spot, which was about an inch taller than the lower edge of the front bumper cover. The bumper cover was flexible enough to ride up over the curb and sturdy enough to stay attached when I backed off it, but I've now got some ugly (Seriously. Ug. Ly.) scrapes on the bottom edge of the bumper.

 :(

Not too noticeable from the front or above; you have to kind of duck down to see the damage, but still I am sad.

Also, my head now hurts from repeated facepalming.

So...backing up to a curb level platform to see if my lights were aligned, and went too close to the curb and popped off the rear driver side mud flaps I installed, LOL. Thank god it was repairable!

I gouged a mud guard on a tall curb downtown the other day. I'm just thankful it wasn't the bumper itself or a wheel. I swear those 17" Limited wheels are going to take years off my life because there is NO safety net at all so I'm always parking like some kid in driver's ed. One of those wheels touches a curb and you'll get curb rash; it's that simple and there's no way around it.

The other night, Emma and I ventured into this absurdly confusing little neighborhood called Ladd's Addition. The locals simply call it 'The Vortex'. I got lost in here for about eight and a half years when I first got my license and nobody who values their sanity tries to use it as a shortcut. The joke goes that it's faster to drive around it than it is to drive through it.

Hey, I see my street - "Holly Street!"

Yes, I've heard tales of this place, although it's weird because I can't recall if I've actually ever driven directly through it. Obviously, I've been on all of the surrounding streets (12th, 20th, Hawthorne and Division). Weird, since I used to hang out in inner SE quite a bit before I met my husband. My sister and then-boyfriend both lived near that area.

Vacuumed the carpets and gave the interior and nice good cleaning before my first long haul road trip tomorrow. Heading to Nebraska to see an old friend. 900 miles one way.

Lazyness is taking hold of me though, car really needs a wash but ugh effort. :p

That's cool - Nebraska, I've never been. But that is where my Czech ancestors on my dad's side of the family settled. In fact, my uncle (dad's older brother) was born there. Still have some remaining living family there. I need to go someday.

Went over the border at Niagara Falls to pick up some packages. Came back to Canada, and I was held y the customs and was accused as a pedophile because I had a pedobear sticker. They ceased my laptop for further thorough search of my files. Sigh.....

Do you know any lawyers? Now thanks to terrorists and 911 stuff govt can basically do whatever they want here in North America now. Its probably time to take off that sticker too. They shouldn't care about your pirated movies or TV.

Holly's leaf looks better and better each day with these gas prices.

Crazy gas prices Jay, I filled up for $3.41 yesterday but its as high as $3.75 around here for regular so I'm not surprised that CA is a buck more, always is. The industry gets raped by regulations, permits, inspections, insurance on West Coast and it costs that much more as a result.

Oh, this incident didn't happen state side, happened going back into Canada :(

Oil change this morning Pennzoil Platinum 5W30. For those with a Meijer around there is a $10 mail in rebate when you buy a 5+ qt jug, and the jug was on sale for $21 so that's an $15 synthetic oil change with Hyundai filter. I have also been saving the leftovers from my jugs and I finally have a full jug for next time. It will be a super blend of Quaker State and Pennzoil synthetics.

I guess I will be using 5W30 now since I have hardly seen any 5W20 since I got to KY. The car will never know the difference.
