Hi all and welcome!

This topic will be collection of all tips & tricks for daily usage of our beloved i10's. Things such as: how do I achieve this, or 'is that possible too'?
To avoid double postings, this topic will only give short description of tips & tricks and will refer to more detailed forum topic (if such exists).

As there owners from different countries on this forum, we will fire off with explanation of models in different countries. As I am from Holland, I will start with Dutch official model names. Please send me names of the models of your countries and I will add them to this topic.

My seat-belts are 'squeaky' - what can I do to fix it?
"The answer is to prize off the black plastic part at the top of the seatbelt - comes apart quite easily. You'll see a spring inside which is the cause of the problem. Shove some grease in. Snap plastic cap back on. Problem sorted !" Thanx to Pebble!. See more info in this topic.

'Hidden' alarm!
As it turns out, i10 comes on some models equipped with alarm although it is not clearly stated in specification. I believe that this applies only for the models with remote control (key) - central locking system.
To find out if you have alarm, do following:
Lock the car using remote control on your key. Leave it for a minute or two. Then, use key itself (not remote control) to unlock car and open door (or boot). If your i10 has alarm, it will now go off. If you don't have it - well, nothing will happen. Conclusion is that remote control (on the key) disables alarm as well. So, in case that your battery has died, you can still unlock your car, but it will trigger alarm. Some people say that alarm will go silent once car is started (couple of seconds after car is started). In any case, you can still use your car to go buy new battery for your key :)

Clock on my radio is automagically updated?
Some radio stations are sending time updates through 'radio signal'. Once they do this (mostly every couple of minutes), your clock / radio will be automatically updated. I am not sure if there is an option on the radio to enable / disable this.

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
Auto lock down
On some models (I believe all models with central lock) have feature to 'auto lock' car in following case:
- You unlock the door with remote control (key), but you do not open any door / boot for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds car will 'lock down' itself. This is very useful feature in case that you step out, you lock the door and put keys in the pocket. Sometimes, remote control is accidentally pressed and car unlocks. But - if you simply walk away it will get locked itself.

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
The sound of radio is quite bad. CD's are OK. Is my radio broken?
Short answer - no, your radio is just fine. General conclusion is that due to the low price of the vehicle, some corners have been cut in production of the radio unit.
You can read here and here about some handy tricks to improve a quality of the signal reception.

Can I fit wind deflectors on my i10?
Yes you can. How to do it - read here. Thanx to TriBorG for sharing info with us ;-)
PS. What the **** are wind deflectors? See picture bellow:

(How) can I install reverse (parking) sensors on my i10?
A short description can be found here. Be aware, you have to be somewhat handy to do it yourself ;-)
See more info here. Thanx to Limestone-cowboy.

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
What are all those wires under my front seats? Can I cut them?
Well, yes you can cut them - but they serve one (or both) of two purposes:
- Airbag sensor which detects if seat is occupied. If it is not occupied, it will not engage airbag in case of collision;
- Power for the heating elements in the front seats.
So, better to leave them be. Note: as this has been said, make sure that there are no (heavy and / or sharp) thing loose on the (back) floor as these things may 'cut' those wires. Also be careful when cleaning the car.

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
Inside of my windows are condensed? Why...?
Quite simple explanation - there is - somewhere water and / or damp in your car.
If you get to your car (and not get in) and it is condensed, then you have to search in your car for that damp. Check carpets, seats, spare wheel compartment, remove any wet clothes / umbrella's and such. Once found, make it dry :)
Quick fix (to get you on your way) is to turn A/C (if you have one) to max to 'blow' moisture off. But bare in mind - that moisture will get 'stuck' somewhere else.
More info can be found here.

How can I install remote central lock?
If you bought car without it, read here how to install one after market example. It is post #12 in that thread.
Thanx to misterg for nice and detailed explanation ;-)

I noticed that some water remains between door and bodywork. Is this normal?
Seems that this is 'normal' behavior of i10. A couple of owners have same problem - but no solution yet.
Keep checking this topic for updates.
Note: if in the winter water goes into ice, be careful opening doors not to brake something!

-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
Parcel shelf - is there a way to make it automatically fall down when boot is closed?
Short answer: there is no yet a solution to make this automatically go down.
Tip 1: Place a paper on the under side of shelf stating to close it (make it red / yellow - attention catcher) :)
Tip 2: Have some object close to you, which with your hands will be long enough to 'reach' to the shelf from drivers seat to 'push' it down :)
See this topic for more info.

Some of my mp3 CD's won't work?
It has been noted that following issues may occur:
- When burning CD, make sure that you 'finalize' it. This means that once CD has been created (burned) it can not be written to anymore; it is known issue that unfinalized CD's won't work;
- Try using different burning software. Some just work differently and apparently on some software CD's won't play in i10 CD / mp3 player :(
If you have any other tips, please post them in this topic.

How to improve your radio quality / reception and get more out of it
User Master_Tech pointed out that a radio / CD unit can be upgraded (software).
According to him, a visit to a dealer and 5 minute installation should do the trick.
You can read more about it here.
Note: if anyone knows which model year are 'old' or 'new' one's please do let me know.

1) Workshop manual, Wiring diagrams, Diagnostic Trouble Codes , Owner's manual, part numbers and much more can be accessed by registering here (disable pop ups) http://service.hyundai-motor.com/
Edit These aditional steps are now rquired.
As many will now know it is no longer possible to access the Hyundai workshop manual free of charge via the IE workaround.

I had a little play and found this is a way to get into the Hyundai workshop manual using Google's Chrome.

Obviously you need to download Chrome but it is quite a small download and nothing on the scale of Microsoft's IE.

1)Download and instal Chrome

2) Register at Hyundai's Global Service Gateway.
http://service.hyundai-motor.com/

3) Log in using the Chrome browser with pop ups blocked (Chrome default setting)

3) Click Shop manual

4)Click the spanner icon in Chrome, click tools, click view source, Highlight at line 198 src="/Main/Viewer/index.asp?IsClickMenu=true&group=SHOP" then select open in new tab

5) And you are in !!!

To obtain your radio model, software and EEPROM status: Provide power from the ignition key, switch the radio off, then press the 1 and 6 buttons.

Unfortunately, this no longer works (tried yesterday). You can log in, but as soon as you want information, a payment popup appears. Any newer tricks or hints?

Hi, just purchased my i10 here in seychelles, and it is a 1.2 GLS version, A/T. Quite like the car but seem a bit disturbed by the amount of road noise the 165/60 R14 tyres make. Is this normal?
Hi and :00000732: to the forums SeyHyundai
This topic is just for hints and tips for the i10....... Please post your question in the i10 topic 'Noisy?' which is more appropriate. Here's a link for you http://www.hyundai-forums.com/t45228-noisy.htm

Sticking fuel filler flap

Well, hopefully I have just fixed my flap problem.

First I had to get the thing to open! It took several tries, but jamming a slip of rigid plastic in the flap and then pulling the lever did it. I saw the feeble spring and gave it a very 'slight' tweak. But, I also made an adjustment at the catch end. There is the plastic tooth/catch that is withdrawn when you pull th elever, but it catches in a hole on a fairly long bracket mounted on the flap. I just bent this bracket very slightly towards the hinge end of the flap i.e. away from the tooth/catch.

It now works flawlessly. I think that the problem is just that pulling the lever does not withdraw the tooth all the way - then, no matter what your spring is like, it won't be able to open the flap. Having adjusted the bracket, even a feeble spring can swing the flap open enough so that it doesn't relock on relesing the lever.

Anyway, hope it helps some one.

*** Missing grommets ***

If your i10 has the grommets missing from screws in the interior 'door pulls' you need to ask your dealer for part number 82734A CAP-DR PULL HANDLE 4X

For pics and more info on this part, or if you're just unsure which bit I mean, see here
Thanks! Made a note of the number and will be checking today. I'm really nervous now.............

I just got my car and was quickly annoyed by a slight rattle making noise from around the stereo. At first i thought it was just the mirror as i have read hear in the forum but it wasnt.

My disturbance came from the warning blinkers button. Seems to me its much too large and because the spring is a bit weak it will rattle about whenever there is a slight vibration in the car. The fix i did was to slip in a small piece of plastic (about 0,5 mm) into the small rift between the button and the holder.

Update: Hyundai rep put the caps through my letterbox yesterday, thanks to you I would never have known about these. They just finish the car off nicely. He sais they don't usually supply them anyway!

Well for mine it says. "when in the parking light position (1st position) the tail, license and instrument panel lights are on". 4.41

Nothing about doors on this page or those following. My side lights just stay on when in the 1st position and the car just "bongs" when you open the door.

Must be model/year dependant
