Out of nowhere, I can't turn my alarm off

I have a 2005 Sonata. Last month I had my car battery replaced, and ever since then I would notice my hazard lights flashing, and the red light on my key fob flashing. I'd push it, and everything would be fine.

2 days ago, I go to get in my car and the alarm won't turn off. I push the fob, button lights up, but the doors don't unlock. When I unlock the door using the key, the car doesn't start.

Called a locksmith about it, he told me that my year of Sonata often has problems with the alarm suddenly breaking, He said he avoiss those cars, and said I could order a replacement on ebay and program myself, but the security box hidden behind the center panel sometimes doesn't have a switch to turn off/on. I read about on a couple youtube vids

I'm thinking of pulling the fuse to the alarm to hopefully start the car, and then getting an inexpensive aftermarket alarm.

anyone else have this problem?

Not sure what is up with your alarm system but try this to get your car started next time.

1. Unlock the door with the key, which will
cause the alarm to be activated.
2. Insert the key in the ignition key cylinder and turn the ignition key to "ON" position. This is the position is right before start position. Do not try to start just yet. Just turn till "ON" position.
3. Wait for 30 seconds.
4. Turn key back to off position then try to start normally.

Thank you fellas for all suggestions, though none of them worked. Let me update.

I tried all of the stuff from above and NOTHING seemed to work. I ended up calling AAA to tow to an alarm center. They load onto a flatbed, Tow to location. The tech gets in and...the car starts right up!! WTF.

My car suddenly exhibits none of the symptoms of before. He did it like 8x in a row.

He had a printout of my car specs, and said that the factory alarm doesn't have a kill switch, so he didn't understand why the car previously wouldn't start. He suggested that it might be the starter, and that the shaking of the car while in transport might have jiggled it to start, but that would only be confirmed if it happens again.

Also, he said that because the only way to deactivate the alarm is the FOB, and since the car is currently starting, don't use it anymore and lock the doors manually.

So Its been starting fine since but...now I find myself hesitant to drive because, who wants to drive a car that might not start again at some random time?

So simply don't use the factory remote to lock the car but use the key (mechanical part) only. Only locking the car by the remote engages the factory alarm system (and the start inhibit function). I had similar issue and just fitted an aftermarket remote system (without alarm, is pointless anyway ...)

Here's another possibility too.

Ensure that the switch (the tube shaped black protrusion above the washer fluid fill cap at the top of my picture) is being fully depressed when the hood is closed.

My alarm kept going off randomly because the rubber bumpers the hood closes on top of was protruding upward too much. Therefore, the switch wasn't able to be depressed enough.

From time to time the battery goes flat overnight. It's been in a dealer shop but they could find nothing wrong. Now the battery went flat overnight. Charging it and reconnecting it, the horn keeps blasting and the hazard lights flash. I've tried the things I read, here, and nothing worked. As it stands I've had to remove the hazard lights fuse and the horn relay. i can now start the car. I tried reinserting the hazard fuse and they start flashing, again. The hood button is in good shape. Also from time to time, the fob won't lock or unlock the doors, so we have to use a key. Our mechanic suggested a new lock actuator in the driver door, so he installed one, but still the same problem. 2005 Hyundai Tucson 6 cyl.
