Odometer Display Always On?

Hey guys,

Is it normal for the instrument display (shows the odometer and trip mileage counter) to always be on? The car is an 08 Sonata Limited.

For some reason the car always shows the odometer and trip counter in the LCD window. I put a remote starter in this car, and I didnt notice until recently that the display always showed a reading, whether the car was on, off, parked, even with the keys out.

Can you tell me if your car does this?

Thanks!

this is common with most modern hyundai's as with a whole host of other makes and models, as the above post states the power comsumption to run this along with the permanent fuel gauge read out is miniscule

I don't either. And I actually prefer it that way. The permanent gauges take longer to read the actual level of fuel. The ones like ours would be more accurate IMO, since it's an instant readout.

montego is in the UK. I wonder if that's how the gauges work over there. Or perhaps he's referring to his XG's. I've only ever been in one once and I didn't pay attention to the fuel gauge.

it is very common for european vehicles to have the fuel gauge reading while the ignition is switch off, but it does'nt make any difference one way or the other
