Hyundai i10 UK face lift?

Hi Guys,
I'm just looking for some views/opinions/feedback.
I am hoping to buy a new i10 in the not too distant future, I've read in the Feb 2016 edition of “what car” that there is a “face lifted” version of the i10 due “late 2016”, I sent an e-mail to Hyundai UK asking if this was correct. The reply I received was non-committal-I can see the reason for this as people may hold off buying until the newer version was available. Have any of you heard of the available date on the face lifted version?
I hope that Hyundai increase/change the metallic finish colours, in my opinion the current choices are very limited/ too similar-my choice option would have been the orange pearl finish! (the one choice dropped very quickly)- don't know why as it's still an option on the i20?
Question-Does anybody know who puts the balancing weights on the alloy wheels, is it done at the UK import stage or as part of the PDI checks at the dealers?- the reason I ask is that the weights look a lot better placed on the inside edge rather than the outside rim (my current alloys have stick on weights on the inside)
Question 2-Why do Hyundai not do any special/limited editions (extra gizmos/ different paint colours) of their cars?-Kia do even on their Picanto version.
Questions 3-Does the boot well have enough space to fit a full sized wheel/tyre? I dislike the “wheel-barrow” style space savers nearly as much as the “tin of gunk”!
Thanking you in advance for any replies/ info on the points above.
All the best
Jim

Hi and a very warm welcome to the i10 forums! Please take the time to complete your User CP details to include your country of residence.

Concerning your Q's, I personally know nothing of any intended facelift, so couldn't comment.

Wheel weights, currently subject of a warranty claim by me on our wheels. The bang on weights we believe, were put on at the factory. We had our winter tyres put on by our Hyundai dealership and it was discovered that the bang on weights have damaged the laquer on all four wheels. Not great and we cannot understand why bang on weights were used in the first place. The dealership used stick on weights as should be done on alloys.

Couldn't begin to speculate about limited edtions, only Hyundai could answer that.

Full size spare wheel, I'm assuming it might be possible. We have the skinny space saver and I'm not spending over £100 replacing it with a full size spare on a car we primarily use as a city/town car. My Saab 9-3 on the other hand which came without any sort of spare wheel and is used as our long distance/holiday vehicle, I ended up buying a full size alloy and fitting a brand new budget tyre for emergencies. Really glad I did, as I've had two punctures to date miles from anywhere and a full size spare was absolutely the right thing to have over a space saver wheel, especially at stupid o'clock in the morning!

Hi Jim

A period of two years in production followed by a facelift seems about right for the i10, especially if you consider the version sold in India (Grand i10) which I believe was sold before the release the i10 new gen in Europe is pretty much the same car.

Germany and some other EU countries did indeed receive limited edition i10s, I believe the UK is not supplied due to being left hand drive.

Although I haven't tried, I've read on the forum that a full size wheel may fit in the spare wheel well - try a forum search and see if it comes up.

Ah, but at what cost. Our SE came with only a tin of gunge and a compressor of sorts. My sister wouldn't fork out on a proper tyre/wheel for which we were estimate at over £250 for a steel wheel.
Do they supply a space saver option.

I may be wrong but I'm sure I read it elsewhere amongst the threads, but as a first owner, I think you can purchase a space saver wheel from your Hyundai dealership at a reduced cost. You'll just get the same wheel as put in the Premium model as standard.

Concerning the tyre gunge/sealant, if you ever have cause to use it in an emergency, be aware, once used, the tyre is completely ruined, it becomes non repairable, but I guess if you need to use it in emergency, you haven't got much choice.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for the warm welcome, and for all the replies received so far.
Guess it's a case of keeping a further eye on the motoring mags /Hyundai website to get more concrete information re face lifted version.
Good news re full sized wheel, had to use "skinny" spare on current car a while back and the flat full sized wheel would not fit in the boot wheel well!!, a right pain in the backside.
Any more replies gratefully accepted, till next time.
All the best, Jim.
