Wondering if anybody had a similar issue or to help troubleshoot. I'm handy with mechanical, less so with electronics.

I have a 2020 Veloster Turbo where the AC suddenly stopped. Morning fine, afternoon -- hot air. I have taken it to two local shops, both of them tell me no power to compressor. Both of them said they don't have wiring diagrams for this car, and I need to go to the dealer. Cabin fuses are good.

Dealer is scheduling 60+ days out.

Google and youtube shows things that don't seem applicable. Jump relay? Ok which one -- the one that says AC/PCM/Something Else? Not sure about that. One video says its "easy" to check the pressure switches -- just buy this $600 tester... Etc, etc.

Not looking forward to the rest of the summer without AC. If Hyundai cannot offer timely service (or even supply the information to shops) -- not sure I'll buy another one.

TIA

This video show someone testing the ac clutch relay and associated wiring to the clutch coil on a Honda civic. Your car is probably very similar. It should help familiarize you with a typical ac system.

Thanks for the response. I'll watch in detail later, but that guy had electrical diagrams and a higher end OBD tool. I have no problem testing a relay that says "AC", but the one on my velo suggests that relay controls more than just the AC compressor. Definitely don't want to compound my problems by blowing up something else. I may just snag a new relay and throw it in -- at least that does not require a purge/fill.

I am not familiar with the compressor on your car. My 2016 Elantra GT does have a clutch coil on the compressor but it is possible your vehicle does not have one. If it does have one, there should be a relay in the under-hood fuse box labeled "ac clutch". This is the relay that you would jump to engage the compressor. An electrical diagram would help or maybe someone with more experience with your car will chime in.

My 2020 Veloster turbo is doing the same thing. The high pressure line is on back order expected eta end of September. Haven’t AC in a month.
