19 Santa Fe 2.0t dead battery 3 times couple months apart each time. It has only 5k miles. Has anyone had experience that?
I think you may want to get your battery checked at the dealer to see if you have a bad battery or something may be draining your battery. It shouldn't be dead in two weeks of no use.I have a 2020 Santa Fe SEL. Yesterday I went out to get in it and the door wouldn't open. The key fob had no effect - I knew the car battery was dead. Opened up the drivers door with the physical key and popped the hood - battery measured 3.8 volts.
With Covid 19 and the cold snowy weather we hadn't used the vehicle in 2 weeks. I could have kicked myself for not coming out and starting it every couple of days in the frigid weather. I put my battery minder on it and began charging it. 5 hours later it was up to 11.9 volts. Started it and let it run for 30 minutes, shut it off and battery read 12.4 volts. Put the battery minder on it overnight and the battery showed a full charge this morning.
It was my own fault for not starting the car in that time. Modern cars put a lot of drain on the cars battery system especially ones with modems and internet features. I've learned my lesson about not starting the vehicles up over an extended time-actually I had already learned that lesson just forgot to do it.
One additional item I am now doing is putting all our smart keys in a small metal box and keeping the lid closed on the box. We keep the keys in the Kitchen which is less than 10 feet from the garage and I thought the keys being that close to the cars and people continually going in and out of the garage could cause the cars to constantly be interacting with the smart keys putting an additional drain on the battery. That won't happen anymore!
Also ordered one of these. We have a couple of young drivers in the house and it is a great backup for them to carry in the glove box
Agreed.........I think you may want to get your battery checked at the dealer to see if you have a bad battery or something may be draining your battery. It shouldn't be dead in two weeks of no use.
That's interesting. I never considered how this little bit of techno-wizardry may bother the car battery. Although my keys live quite a distance from my car, I checked it anyway. My key has to be within 5' of any door handle before they begin talking. Thanks for bringing this up.Additional follow up on Post #41 and Post#44
Battery continues to perform excellently. The battery minder did a great job.
I am monitoring our battery to make sure there are no problems with it.
Putting all the key fobs in the tin box and putting the top on has been a real key to preventing car battery drawdown.
Our keys being less than 10 foot from the garage and in constant contact with the vehicle was putting unnecessary current draw on the battery
In a couple sentences, please explain how this product works / hooks up?NOCOBOOST PLUS GB40
I have a 2019 Ultimate with 2.4 GDI. Currently at 28K miles. That's under 4.4K mi/yr. Low because we are both retired and have another car that does a lot of the "errands" around town (San Diego).Bought my SF new in 2019, it now has about 24k miles, and my ISG works flawlessly and I have NEVER had any issues with this feature. I assume this is average. IF you're having battery issues with a newly purchased vehicle, there is a problem.
