Thinking about having this done and trying to learn a few things about it plus some advice from ones who have done it. Called 3 places with quotes of $180, $200 and on sale $399 normally $499. Now I know you normally get what you pay for but this is a pretty big spread especially the not on sale quote. For the ones who have done this are you glad you did and I'm I going to be sorry for getting the $200 job. Also want whats legal for my state, Va.

For comparison sake, I got my windows tinted at Zeibart and it was $185, plus $25 to do a visor strip across the top of the windshield. The darkness of the tint depends on desired taste and remember that the color of your interior makes a difference too. I went with 33% and have black interior so it looks darker than if I had gray interior. I did not tip the installer, but then again I never saw the installer. I only dealt with the sales guy at the counter.

mine's suntek films.
mine's 25% in the front and 35% all the back.
the visible is good on 25% front. but it's really dark for the rear windshield window at night.
I have to get used to it any way. I like its overall looks though.

no, I do no think you have to tip your installer.
especially you'll have to wait at least 2 weeks to tell if they've done a great job or no as it needs time for film to settle, you might see some air pockets here and there but it will scratch out themselves. but some pockets might have dusts in it, then it'll become bubbles.

mine's about 4 weeks now and I noticed some bubbles/pockets, I'll have to go back and have them fix it this weekend.
it does have lift time warranty, but who knows how long is the shop's life lol.

I hate going back though, why can't they just do the job right the first time and also hate people touching my car regarding what.

best luck.

20% is too dark for PA, plus I don't like obstructing my nighttime viewing. 30% was a nice compromise because I could still see out at night, and it wasn't impossible to see in either. Not looking to black out any of my windows.

Tinting is "technically" illegal in PA, but the wording of the law makes it much less risky to go with lighter shades. I paid around $240 to get the 2013 Sonata done.

No matter 'coolness' factor, I hate cars with tinted windows:
- Cannot make eye contact and communicate with other driver at intersection.
- Have no idea if jerk is paying attention while turning or jerking off his ... phone.
- Cannot make eye contact while crossing the street.
- Do not know if guy is puling a gun after I stopped him for traffic infraction.
- Tinting does NOT make your car cooler temp wise.
- It is for very insecure people living in a dream world. Or some ugly bitches with botched up lip job.

What do you need to communicate with other driver for? Hand signals are visible, light signals are visible, roll your window down.

Chances are, he is on his phone as many drivers are...doesn't make it any more dangerous just because YOU can't see it.

If you're in the tinted car, why do you have to worry about someone crossing the street? You can see them regardless if they can see you or not. You're the one in control.

You're the cop, pull the gun on the driver, use your loudspeaker to have them open the windows, abuse your power like so many others do. (It's funny that police cars can have limo tint but citizen cars cannot)

Tinting does indeed reduce internal temperatures if you install ceramic tint. This happens by transmitting less, reflecting more, and absorbing more solar heat. The darker the tint the greater the effect. Look at the numbers, do an experiment yourself, it's proven.

Last but not least, it is about privacy, protecting your cars interior, and not letting guys like you see us when you dead stare into our cars for the duration of your turn...take a picture it will last longer.

Some people are sensitive to light also. Me,its mostly for the look, but,it does keep the interior cooler on 90 plus degree days. If the police allowed it,I would do the front windows too.

If you had a Jeep you can. Since the front window is flat you can tint the entire window in 35% and then use the same tint again to tint the AS1 line to give the look that only the top of the window is tinted. :grin2:

Now you could do the curved front window but that is an art to do. but yes it can be done.

I used to tint windows in Florida, and it is a good business to be in.

I recently got the windows on my 2015 Sport 2.0T Limited tinted. I used SunTek Carbon 45 film on all five (two front, two rear, back) windows. As the name implies, it is a 45% film. It is dark enough to be noticeable, but isn't too dark that it draws unwanted attention - Iowa law has a 70% max on the front windows. I'm really happy with how it turned out!

There are two tiny bubbles in the back window that haven't gone away, so my installer has offered to replace the back film free-of-charge. We agreed to wait until the spring so that the glass can get some heat and sunshine to help it cure. I might have him do 35% on the back this spring, just to darken the overall look of the car a little.

It makes sense when I think about it, but closing the sunshade on the panoramic sunroof makes the tint look much darker from the outside. I usually leave it opened, but closed it one day before going to work and came back out to my car and had a 'well, duh' moment.

The cost was $199.

Thanks for posting this. I have the same model and color, so this gives me a perfect idea of how it will look after I add tint. I'm aiming for June myself to ensure plenty of sun for curing.

You mentioned the sunshade is usually open. If it is open in these pics, can you post one from the side with it closed?

It sucks living in a non-metropolis type of area. There are so few local people to choose from and I swear, they all seem so overpriced. I found a store that will give you an estimate via email. For a full front/back tint they quoted me $219 for their entry-level Suntek Carbon. $299 for Suntek CXP. They said Huper Optik is their top tier one and that costs $499. He said they also have 3M and Llumar available but didn't quote a price on those. They said sunroofs and visors are an additional $40 each. They also quoted me $349 for a Clearplex install.

I honestly haven't had any of my rides tinted in ages, so I have no clue if these are fair prices or not. I called a few places and most won't give a quote over the phone for some reason.

Rip off!!! The 219 is the only potentially reasonable price.

A shop here who is very well known starts at 200 for all around dye based lumar film. 325 for ceramic which I thought was a wee bit high to upgrade to ceramic. 499 though?! That's insane. You'd be better off spending 100 dollars on gas and going somewhere that will do it for 200 or less lol

I am getting quotes from a few other shops and the prices are getting higher. One place has 3M Crystalline for $600, another place charges $425 and up for Suntek CXP. The first place I got the quote from is the cheapest so far and they have the most/highest reviews on Yelp. Half the places don't even list the types of tint they offer. They all have the same blurb about the health benefits of tinting your windows.

The place I went to before uses Llumar film. The offer ceramic, but I go with the standard metallic. Our XM antenna is in the shark fin on the roof, so there's no interference there, only AM can sometimes be reduced by metallic tint. But if AM in your area broadcasts in HD, then it shouldn't happen at all.

Finally got mine done. The bubbles, streaks and haze will drive me nuts until it cures but I like it so far. I am super OCD with my windows and keep them perfectly clean and crystal clear at all times.

I went with Suntek CXP 35 all around and CXP 70 on the windshield. So far so good, just gotta wait for it to cure completely and hope my OCD doesn't go too crazy about it. :)
