I assume it's not any of the active safety system alerts?

Try and get a recording of it.

 

I encountered the same on one of the intersection and it is the only one! No clue, but obviously it sees something.

 

Simple stuff. Your navigation system is set to chime as you near your home. Go into your settings and “uncheck” that feature.

 

Oh boy, that’s embarrassing! I thought I looked at all the settings. Obviously missed thus one. Thx for the heads-up.

 

That is not the case for me, the location is 3 blocks leaving from office. It always chime where the blue car is, with or without cars on the opposite side making left turn. Both sides have advance left turn signal and cars go at the same time.

 

Hmmmm... that blows the “near home” theory. I haven’t had a chance to verify the setting mentioned by PMCErnie.

 

School zone?

 

No... I go through a few school zones every day without any alerts or sounds.

 

You don't have to have a vehicle opposite you, if the Avoidance Radar senses a vehicle behind you, even if it's not in your blind spot. It will send a warning chime. I've had this happen a couple of times, when I am at a Y intersection or rounding a curve on a highway. I've also noticed the chime activates if a vehicle is approaching at a faster speed than I am going. Ie.. I am in the right lane and slowing down to exit, with an auto fast approaching on my left, The Avoidance radar seems to sense a potential vehicular threat and sounds a false alarm.

 

It is not the same alert sound as that of the blind spot or avoidance. And no vehicles are around me when this happens. It is a happy sounding chime and it only chimes once.

 

They should make use of the media display and the center LCD, display the prompt on them

 

Anything to do with the remote garage door?

 

Yes, it will do that every time you are getting close to a address book destination. It is announcing you are close to (but not at) the destination. Doesn't care if you are using navigation or not. We have deleted several address book points because we drive past them on daily errands, etc. Have not found a way to stop it. Has anyone else?

 

Ahhhh.... that makes sense. My home is the only saved location in my town so it chimes only when I approach it. Thx for the info... mystery solved.

 

Maybe the folk at the NSA forgot to disable the chime on their end

No, I’m an NSA vet and we don’t do that.

 

Every time I approach the drive into our condo property (at the intersection where it joins the main road) my SF sounds a chime. It only does it coming home, not when leaving. And I am not navigating when this happens. So far, this is the only spot where this chime sound occurs. Any ideas?
My SF does a ding ding for quite some travel time at about 30 klms from my home. I have also recorded the sound. My car is in for a service atm. Sent them the video
