Seatbelt Difficult To Draw Out

Morning.

My daughter spent over 3 minutes trying to apply the seatbelt yesterday. Eventually we managed it by drawing the belt very very slowly. The other belts in the car work as you would expect.

The car won't be going in for its first service until 12,500 miles on the clock (it has 800 miles at the moment), although I suppose I could take it back next week as this is a safety feature that's faulty.

HOWEVER, I'd rather not have the dealership start removing panels all over the place, plus I need this vehicle on the road not at the menders.

Looking at the pic below, is there an easy way to get access to the mechanism myself, hopefully without removing much stuff?

Thanks

Steve

the problem that you have is an over sensitive seat belt tensioner, the only cure for this is to fit a new one. l suggest you phone your dealer and explain the problem as they are unlikely to have one in stock. maybe then they can order it for you and when they have it you could visit them and have them fit it while you wait

Well, to confirm just how good Hyundai after-sales is, I am booked in next week for TWO replacement rear seatbelts. Half an hours effort, apparently.

The dealer said that Hyundai want them to replace both units, even though only one is faulty.

Looks like I made the right decision to switch to Hyundai

Wow that is good!! My dealings with Hyundai so far have been exemplary also. The rear spoiler on my SR started to come adrift a week or so after I picked up my car, they fixed it but then informed me it was 'buckled' (buggered if I can see it though). They are replacing the whole spoiler free of charge!
