Hi all,
Just swapped tires and had an alignment done. Looking at the readout, my (unadjustable) SAI readings were as follows:
Front Left: +15.1 degrees
Front Right: +24.9 degrees
Spec for both sides is +12.2 to +13.2 degrees, meaning the left is out of spec by 1.9 degrees and the right is out by a whopping 11.7 degrees.
Some brief notes on the car...
The only work I've done relating even remotely to suspension is installing stiff rings, a FSTB, and a greater diameter rear sway bar (the Optima one).
I've never had any suspension components replaced, with my odometer about to roll over to 100,000 miles.
There's been a persistent sort of "clunk" that I feel (not hear) in the steering wheel when traversing certain kinds of bumps. Steering column was replaced under warranty, and the flexible steering coupler is pristine as of about a year ago (it's the revised part and less prone to degradation). Rack and pinion also replaced a year ago. Took the car to multiple shops and have had them check over the suspension/steering. Nothing else found, other than minor cracking in control arms, according to a tech.
So, thoughts? New struts?
Hoping this SAI is the revelatory symptom that reveals what's been making the clunk...
Otherwise, the car drives perfectly and in a straight line for days without steering input.
Thanks for all your input!
