Rust Recall Experiences?

I just bought a 2002 XG350 that was purchased new in South Dakota according to the dealer label. I live in Arkansas. Is there any chance Hyundai will take care of the subframe issue if I dont live in a rusty state, but got the car from one? I have not seen the car in person, just pics. It was pretty cheap, but if the subframe is rusty, I am hoping they make good.

We live in the NYC metro area - not particularly prone to rust issues but we took our 2004 XG350 in when we got the recall notice. The service manager said none of the cars they inspected needed more than a cleaning and coat of rust preventer but it turned out that ours needed the subframe replaced. They ordered the parts, called us back when they got them and did the replacement in 2 days. They apologized for taking so long but said there was so much corrosion on the bolts etc. that it took them longer than expected. When work was complete, we did notice that noise heard when making a hard turn had disappeared and the steering was smoother in general.

at our dealership we've only had a few Xg's around. one passed the thickness tests and recieved a full cavity waxing, the other failed and i believe it comes back for me to do in a week or so. i believe they should cover the recall if your vehicle came from a rusty state. but i cannot garuntee it. just make sure if they do replace the subframe, they dont try to use a sonata subframe, she wont work. lol

I live in Pennsylvania and got the recall mine was in and out before lunch time. My dealer told me if the frame was good that they would drill extra drain holes in the frame and undercoat it as well. Was in and out in under 4 hrs and also had the low preasure power steering line replaced.
