Rear Bumper Cover Removal?

Hoping someone can assist. Looking for instructions on how to remove the rear bumper cover on our LWBs. I used to have access to the Hyundaitechinfo.com site, but no longer. I recall someone having downloaded all the info they could from the website and posting some, but cannot find any info after numerous searches both here and in the SF Sport sub-forums.

So, if anyone has access to or can get instructions on the removal of our rear bumper cover (or even that of the Sport) and either send them to me or post them here, it would be appreciated.

I am strongly considering installing an LED module in the bumper reflectors, and believe that, based on the SFS, the bumper must be removed, or at least loosened on either side, in order to remove the reflectors.

I did see one post in the SFS subforum by Golfermack, but was hoping for something specific to the LWB or perhaps something with pics.

Thanks in advance.

Ours is simple. I had to take mine off to adjust one of the bumper reflectors. You will have to completely remove the bumper cover to access the reflectors.

• When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts, to prevent damage.
• Use a plastic panel removal tool to remove interior trim pieces to protect from marring the surface.
• Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.
1. After loosening the mounting screws, then remove the rear combination lamp (A).

2. Disconnect the rear combination lamp connector (A).

3. Loosen the rear bumper lower mounting clips.

4. Loosen the mounting bolts.

5. Disconnect the rear bumper main connector (A).

6. After loosening the rear bumper side's mounting screws, then disconnect the side's.

7. Loosen the rear bumper upper mounting clip.

8. Remove the rear bumper cover (A).

9. Install in the reverse order of removal.

• Make sure the connector is plugged in properly.
• Replace any damaged clips.

Much thanks for this Sparkland. So you followed these instructions written for the SF Sport to remove the rear bumper on your LWB? If so, did you find any variances between these instructions and what you had to do on your SF?

Used these last night and worked like a charm. Some mods for the LWB/XL:

Step 1. You need to pull the assembly straight back. There is a small clip at the very front corner that dislodges by pulling straight back. There are also two steel pins that fit into rubber grommets of sort. if you can't get your fingers and pull, then use some duct tape and wrap the front edge (around the tip) of the light, and a few layers around a flat tip screw driver. Slowly pry just under the trip at the front edge of the light working your way up and down about 1" until it pops. then pull back.

Step 4: There are only 2 bolts (14 mm) attaching the bumper bar to the frame. There is a long alignment pin in place of the 3rd bolt.

Step 5: The connector: is for the the reverse sensors (where equiped). To separate, place a small flat screwdriver under the gray locking mechanisms and pry slightly to pop it out of lock position. Then lift with your fingers and rotate backwards. You will note on the side that the gray mechanism has a grove and pin to slide on. By rotating backwards, it actually pushes the two connectors apart. Voila!

Step 8: Removing bumper - top edge of bumper under weather stripping: can be a PITA to get out because there are little notches in the steel plate it slides into, and these notches sit in a small hole in a tab extending from the bumper cover. Some came out with sheer pressure, and others I had to get under the car and jam a flat tip screwdriver between the steel plate and the plastic bumper tab and try to dislodge the tab from the steel notch.

Other than this, the instructions are pretty good.

OK, my wife had a small accident and the right rear corner of the bumper cover of our LWB 2014 Santa Fe is scratched and a tiny hole is in it. Also the exhaust chrome piece got dinged. Talking to Hyundai they tell me bumper cover is $400 and the chrome piece exhaust piece looks to be all connected to a Y that contains both chrome pieces and a tail pipe which is another $400. Has anyone been able to purchase just the small chrome piece? If i could just replace the chrome piece, and do the work myself the repair would be under my insurance deductable.
