Yep, that's the one, first pic that I see tho. As I already said it kinda looks like an ugly lancer + audi.

I like this revision, it makes the resale value of mine a little higher :D
Right you are, sir. VW owners of yesteryear, 50's-early 70's, made a killing on resale of their old beetles. The body style never changed. Other manufacturer's changed body styles more frequently than the average Sterno bum changed his underwear....every couple of years, or sooner. They couldn't hold their value because Joe Buyer was clamoring for the newest Caddy (for example) with the bigger tail fins than the year before.

Meanwhile, bug owners kept motoring along in their cars that held a "higher than normal" percentage of resale value.

Well, before this thread gets highjacked lol, my final thoughts on the subject & Hyundai.
It seems and as I read before Hyundai's success with the sonata & elantra on the American market during 2011 was only short lived by the drop of sales at home. Now they are trying to win back the more "conservative" korean market, which seems kinda funny given the ridiculous amount of mods I've seen on avantes.

No, I would not buy the next gen model and here's why;
*The reason I bought an Elantra was not because it's reliability, performance or luxury (back then little did I know about hyundai), it was because how different it looked, how unique they seemed on the road, it was a break from corolla, civic or altima.
* I would not drive an audi-looking thing that doesn't behave like an audi. Elantras simply don't have the power or feeling to back up that luxurious look. And unless hyundai is willing to fix the sluggish throttle or underpowering sensation I don't see the use.
*We still have to see the interior, and I wonder if they'd be willing to use higher quality materials on the inside, and how are they cutting the costs.

Don't get me wrong, I love my elantra, but 2016 does not look how it should be like, an economy sedan.
Well at least we can all take a deep breath and know we made the right choice on buying this generation :D

FYI..the pic is just an UNOFFICIAL render.

Actually I like the next-gen's face than the current one...slanted headlights give it somewhat a "menacing" look rather the bulgy ones found in MD Elantra.

and

a) it's gong to be LIGHTER than the current one..will be using advanced high tensile steel.

b) it's likely to use higher quality materials this time around.

c) it's going to feature a modified engine like the one in the current Sonata.

I don't get the "it may look luxurious...but if it doesn't have the power or feeling to back up the luxurious look I ain't buying it" approach..I mean is it really realistic for the Elantra to drive like an Audi with that kind of price tag???

What I was trying to say that is I'd like to drive something unique on its own, not a copycat version of something more expensive.

I'm done buying cars for the foreseeable future. All they do is depreciate. I'll just keep my happy butt in my current one and have a ball. She looks good to me, and that's all that really matters to me. We've still the "very happy couple!"

Nothing wrong with owning a 2016, etc. Whatever blows your dress up. They make them, we buy them. Just that simple. For the most part.

I'm feeling ya, bro. None taken. I am what I am.

And even this old geezer doesn't want to be seen putzing around town in a car that personifies the geriatric generation.

At least I'm 6'2" and don't wear one of those tweed, old guy, golf caps with the snap on the bill. And you can actually see me sitting above the window sash.

I look rather spectacular in my 2013, IMHO...and plan on staying that way!

Except this is poorly done imo. The fog lights or LED light placement, looks just like the new Camry. I'm all for the "mouth" looking front end, but it has to be executed well for this smaller compact cars. Looks like they just carried the same design over from the new Azera. Which I like, but some reason it does not work here.

I showed my girlfriend this pic, not knowing how she would react. I had my cursor set over the emblem. She said "OMG that's pretty, I love it". I asked her what she thought it was and she guessed Hyundai. She has a 2008 white elantra with just under 70K miles. Her car still runs well, but I imagine she will be wanting a new one within during the coming generation of elantras.

I would have to agree with Mr. Plop on this one. I chose the Elantra because it was "different" from the way other car makers were going. I was actually hoping that the next generation would look more like other competitors such as Ford, Honda, or Mazda just so i can feel a bit more unique with the current model. I love the features my '14 Sport, has other than the lack of BlueLink which just saves me a few hundred a year anyway. The last thing i am waiting on is for Hyundai to announce that they will NOT be coming out with a 2.0L Turbo engine like Sonata because if they do i might be kicking myself in the behind, but then again Hyundai has to keep the cost down in this model or else they will loss some of its clientele that is looking for a cost efficient, gas saving daily driver. Then again, there's always the Accent to accommodate for those standards

Not sure if i am just a bit biased having the current generation haha but i am sure happy i am now completely satified after checking out this photo, whether it be rendered or not

When i heard that Hyundai was making a new gen. of Elantra's for 2016, I was bummed cuz I already had a 2014 SE. It doesn't look that bad, but I don't think it looks as good as the current gen. and I'm now content with the 2014:D
