Man, I love the wailing and gnashing of teeth over OCIs! All you need to do is talk about spending $25-50 on maintenance, and suddenly everyone knows more than the automotive engineers that wrote the manual.

You want to beat Hyundai at their warranty game? Follow the manual, even if it’s inconvenient.

Full disclosure: I didn’t know about the 3500 mile “severe service” OCI until after I bought the car. Do what I’m doing and take it as a lesson. Learn more about what you are buying BEFORE you spend $20,000+. Don’t make the same mistake next time. That’s all you can do.
