Highest mileage on a 2011+ Elantra, who's driven the most miles & how's the car doing

Just trying to see who has one that is "up there" in mileage and maybe a report on any problems you had along the way or currently have. Fuel economy, better or worse than when new, tire condition, etc.

Well I only have 7080 since June. No problems noted so far. I seem to average a sad 32 MPG, which is the same as my 06 Civic. However this car is much more refined.

Only problem is wind noise significantly increased from drivers door. I haven't even looked at it yet to trouble shoot.

Only thing I dislike is the steering on the highway drives me nuts.

I have 15,700 miles on mine, since the first week of May.

My average since new is 34.4 mpg (mixed driving) my best tank was 37.8mpg and worst is tank was 28mpg (calculated, not trip computer) My commute is 65 miles each way, with 90% highway and about 700' elevation change. The car sees mainly my commute, but also some around town, and my wife uses it for short errands instead of the minivan.

Overall, no serious issues, but a few minor ones. The main issue was drifting from center, which was corrected by a 4 wheel alignment. The other issue was paint damage during shipping that required some painting.

Tires seem to be wearing evenly, only rotated once so far.

It goes in Thursday for the 15k service.

jstand3, what are the road conditions like where you're at? Rough roads? I am just wondering how long it takes to get problems with the alignment. Paranoia on my part due to owning older vehicles in the past.

I've been doing oil changes at the severe interval, or at least close to it. The mileage for the oil changes has been 3941, 7900, 11,987 and by Thursday's appt it will be approx 15,900.

Until the salt goes on the road my driving is probably within the "normal", but with the dealer picking up the cost of the first years maintenance I'm not going to debate the driving conditions if they want to follow the severe schedule.

As for the alignment, there was a drift/pull from the begining. It was a slight drift always to the left regadless of road crown. The steering wheel was also a very slightly off center but not enough to really stand out with the interior contours.

The dealer followed the worksheet for trouble shooting the problem and the first visit for it they attributed it to tire pressure. When I brought back for the service just before 12k they reevaluated it at my request and realigned the car to correct it.

The roads are typical new england highways with summer construction, otherwise not too bad.

I have just over 20,000 Kms since mid July, I do about 1,000 kms a week. No problems to speak of as yet. My average for a tank is about 6.0l\100km wich equals out to 39.2 mpg, however I drive almost all highways miles and Hypermill as much as possible, I ALWAYS get over 40 mpg on highway and the 39 average comes from the small amount of city driving I do.

I have rotated the tires once and am putting my winter tires on this coming weekend as here in northern atlantic canada it is getting colder in the evenings and snow is soon going to start falling. This is my first winter where I am at and I have noticed a lot of people have thier studed tires on already! CRAZY!

I have had 2 oil changes and the next one will be done at 24k km's. Like I said before there have been no problems and no extra dealer visists aside from the first oild change. I rotated the tires myself and did the second oil change myself.

Love this car and can see myself owning it for 6 or 7 years because It is my first new car (2nd car in total, first one was a 2002 elantra) and I am only 21 but drive it like im 75 :p

Good to hear that you like to squeeze the gas drops. On fueleconomy.gov you can input your gas consumption & mileages & get a nifty line graph built for your car as the years go by. The line graph makes it easier to see subtle changes that may occur as the years roll by. With the line graph you can compare your mpg for different seasons, weather, driving conditions, driving habits, different fuels, tire pressures, etc by using the space for 'notes'.

On another page you can see how your mpg compares with other drivers of the same car, plus 'your garage' shows all your other vehicles too.

I actually just hit 15,000 miles today. I just got it in April but unfortunately have an 80 mile round trip commute M-F. I primarily drive on tollways and seem to get pretty good gas mileage. The MPG average thing on the display tends to hover around 35-37. I havent had any major problems with the car.

Almost 9K on mine, 2 oil synthetic changes 1 tire rotation and Hankook tires are wearing nicely. Car went in for ecm update, radio panel update, and broken visor. Mpg average for around town mixed driving and commuting 32-34 depending on whether you trust the display or not. Very happy with this mileage in my conditions.

Woah! Now, break me off a piece of that. Maybe when I can cure my road rage, I can attain such high numbers. Things aren't looking too great, though..I was laying on my horn on my way home today.

Only 6,000 km in nearly 8 months. Frequent short trips in heavy stop-and-go conditions yields 9-11 litres per 100km. On the open road I get 5-6. Very happy with these numbers; my Santa Fe burns nearly twice as much fuel.

No mechanical defects so far, not even a squeak or rattle. Very impressive for an early production new model.

Having bad luck with my first black car though. I received a bumper scrape when the car was brand-new, and incurred some other damage from a flying roof shingle. And just yesterday I discovered a nasty 18" long scratch down the side. Sigh. It's just character. It's just character. It's just character.

Purchased my 2011 in January, have about 17,500 miles. Average between 32 - 35 mpg, mix of highway/rural roads. Lots of hills, that lowers gas mileage a lot. Just had it in for the ECM upgrade, the car is much peppier. Oh, yea, and the rear seat belt was installed backwards. Otherwise, I love this car.

Just passed 20,000 last night-10 1/2 months. Sixth oil/filter change last Saturday. So far, so good. Looks showroom-in and out! Extremely pleased. Especially proud of comments I get...almost on a weekly basis.

Oh, Mobil 1 oil/Hyundai filter changes (my labor) investment has been $198+tax. Couple of jugs of RainX window washer stuff. That's about all I've spent. Almost forgot: air and cabin filter, too. Pretty cheap to operate.

Pride of ownership(whatever the item may be) really shows in no time at all. There are a couple of elantras here at work with paper plates still, yet they are scratched up on the front lower section of bumper and usually pretty filthy. Likely are NOT members on this forum.

I bought my car one year ago and I just hit 21000Km (13048 Amerikan miles) No issues at all. No rattles, no squeaks.I only had an issue with the electric power steering not working on two ocasions at the begining, they reprogrammed the computer and it never happened again. Very pleased with my car. I get 4.9L/100Km (40Mpg) on the highway and between 6.9 and 10L/100Km in city depending on the weather and traffic. The only thing I dislike is road noise, mostly in city. In april I will try my new 17'' wheels with performance tires and see if more quiet on the road. Cheers.

I am in the same realm as you, 2012 that's almost a month old with 700 miles on it. I actually just bought mud guards but have not put them on yet, hopefully they don't damage too easily.

I'm about 70% city driving and I'm getting around 25 MPG. Not as much as I was hoping but hopefully it will go up once the engine as been more broke in.
