Glove Compartment Light Won't Turn On....

So I own a 09 Sonata GLS,
and just a few days ago I remember the glove compartment light working
correctly, but just yesterday night when I took something out
of the glove compartment I noticed the light was not turning on....
I was wondering if there is a switch I could have flipped or
maybe I overstuffed it and it hit something when I closed it......

Anybody have any experience with this?

did you have the exterior lights on?...the glove box light only works when the lights are on. however if its still not working check the bulb first, if that's o.k remove the glove box (as if you were changing the cabin filter) and check you have power to the glove box switch....take the fault finding step by step starting with the bulb

Thanks!
I just checked it with my headlights turned on and it worked!
but I just realized if I go grab something out of my car in the night like yesterday
I have to start the car in order to light the glove compartment...
talk about inconvenience...
Did you happen to notice the front map lights or center dome light located overhead?
Both work without the engine running.

You think that's an inconvenience? Try replacing that bulb, and getting the holder back into place, on a '06, that had a working bulb, but found out after two hours of farting around with it!!! Only to find out that when the lights are on, the light works.

I'm sorry for your experience, but
by inconvenience I meant turning on the car everytime I want to search the glove compartment in the dark....
Please do not misunderstand...

and the exact reason I asked on here first if because I did not want to mess with it
for 2 hours nor take into shop to realize that this was the case.....

You didn't find Tommer's post funny? :whistling: Gee tough crowd here. Just put a Mini Flashlight in there. $1 at the Dollar Store.

By the Way, AUTO is the last position, not the first. Have you consulted your manual at all? We have a copy here too..

"if so, i always have the knob turned to auto instead of off (which would be the first position)"

I meant "off(which would be the first position)"

I was actually mocking my OWN stupidity, so others are spared! I didn't mean to sound harsh. (This time.)
