Is this something you can download from techinfo or do you have to be a dealer? I have a one week subscription there (with 6 days left), but I didn't see any way to download that

Thanks for checking. Yes, the equipment is the problem. The cheaper stuff on eBay is tight to an old SW that does not support 2016 Tucson...

 

the latest GDS V2.14 works new Hyundai till 2015, 2016 is out of the safe zone. You can find the VCI with trigger model and GDS hard disk at the price of 150 bucks around off ebay or Newest GDS VCI for Kia & Hyundai (Red/Blue) with Trigger Module

The "newest" in the name is unfortunately used either from not knowing they sell 2 yr+ old SW or because they want to attract more buyers.


Anyway all the "newest" stuff from eBay has software V15 and we need at least V18.1... for 16 Tucson...

 

Can someone tell me why I only have very limited choices in my GDS software?
When I choose BCM or SJB module --> vehicle software management --> option treatment or data treatment, I only get very few options...
- Am I doing this wrong, I even have a updated VCI

The GDS software you buy is most likely pirated/hacked to be unlocked and work with cheap chinese clones of the authentic dealer tool. Until someone hacks the newer version of GDS, which includes the 2016+ tucson in it's database, no one can help you.

 

Got GDS VCI with V19 software from eBay. Be careful the installation did include a virus Sality.AE in daemon tools lite.exe

It's a pain to install the software with 2 updates, takes couple of hours. I do regret the dealerships that they need to deal with this for every update. Was quite disappointed about options it allows to configure on SJB and BCM. Pretty much nothing interesting. Compared to VW's VAG COM, GDS is lame. I know what my next car will be The good news is that it seems that paddle shifters and heated steering wheel retro-fit might be possible, the signals are on the list of parameters from TCU and BCM. So we will see.

The design of the software is ancient, mostly based on database file structures, they even install 1GB database of all HMA VINs and cars... Very odd.

It's useful when it's used for it's intended purpose...diagnostics.

And BTW, the VW dealership tool doesn't allow you to activate optional features in the control modules either.
That's not what dealership diagnostic tools are for.

 

Is clutch calibration on that version of GDS tool?

Hey guys. We should dig deeper about his. I know VCDS is a great way to edit and modify features via software and I had a 2014 Focus in which I could edit some stuff via Forscan. is this GDS like these softwares for editing parameters? I'd like to make some changes to my 2023 HB20.

 

Hyundai cars don't really use software coding in the way VW group cars do. So you are very limited to what you can modify with GDS, or any other Hyundai tool. Plus the software supplied with the Chinese clones of GDS that you can buy on ebay, etc is ancient. I don't think it would be much use to you with a 2023 model car.

 

So, is this new Android software capable of the customization VCDS is on VW models? I ask this because everything is software based in our cars nowadays and the manufacturer itself needs to edit parameters to keep differences between models and versions of the cars. If they have access to these parameters (including dealers), we might get it too somehow, right?

I my experience as a dealership VW tech, the dealers aren't able to modify parameters. The VW dealership diag tool doesn't allow you to do that on newer models. (FYI, VCDS is not the diag tool used by VW dealerships). Vehicle configuration is done by connecting the car to the factory via the internet. It's done automatically. The technician doesn't actually change anything.

 

It's pretty easy to get rid of if you copy it and then run a virus scan. Cleans it up so you can use it or at least that was my experience. But I can't get it to work at all except for the software, no connections to the cars for the last couple years.
