GDS VCI diagnostics and config options

Anyone in the forum used Hyundai GDS VCI tools to set options for the car that are not accessible from the "user interface"?

What modules are configurable?
- BCM, Smart Junction Box, ....

What I'm looking at specifically:
- Turning off the "load management" (VW term) (either per circuit or in general) /this is the "bad" bulb indication - the best solution to replace bulbs with LEDs and not using resistors/
- Configure the DLR to stay on in lower intensity when headlights are on (configurable on VW/Audi)
- Enabling other things like welcome lights, possibly stop/start mode, etc...

I did a lot of mods for VW in the past and the VAG-COM was essential for configuration and adaptation.

Thanks for all the pointers!

P.S. From the research on TechInfo - at least v1.18.04 of GDS VCI SW is required to support 2016 Tucson.

, so it means on the US spec you guys don't have the DRL on all times? The website saying it comes in and I was assuming that the DRL is that little foglight light above, right?

the latest GDS V2.14 works new Hyundai till 2015, 2016 is out of the safe zone. You can find the VCI with trigger model and GDS hard disk at the price of 150 bucks around off ebay or Newest GDS VCI for Kia & Hyundai (Red/Blue) with Trigger Module

The "newest" in the name is unfortunately used either from not knowing they sell 2 yr+ old SW or because they want to attract more buyers.

Anyway all the "newest" stuff from eBay has software V15 and we need at least V18.1... for 16 Tucson...

Can someone tell me why I only have very limited choices in my GDS software?
When I choose BCM or SJB module --> vehicle software management --> option treatment or data treatment, I only get very few options...
- Am I doing this wrong, I even have a updated VCI

...?

Got GDS VCI with V19 software from eBay. Be careful the installation did include a virus Sality.AE in daemon tools lite.exe

It's a pain to install the software with 2 updates, takes couple of hours. I do regret the dealerships that they need to deal with this for every update. Was quite disappointed about options it allows to configure on SJB and BCM. Pretty much nothing interesting. Compared to VW's VAG COM, GDS is lame. I know what my next car will be :) The good news is that it seems that paddle shifters and heated steering wheel retro-fit might be possible, the signals are on the list of parameters from TCU and BCM. So we will see.

The design of the software is ancient, mostly based on database file structures, they even install 1GB database of all HMA VINs and cars... Very odd.

Anyone found GDS VCI useful?

So, is this new Android software capable of the customization VCDS is on VW models? I ask this because everything is software based in our cars nowadays and the manufacturer itself needs to edit parameters to keep differences between models and versions of the cars. If they have access to these parameters (including dealers), we might get it too somehow, right?

Probably not.

I my experience as a dealership VW tech, the dealers aren't able to modify parameters. The VW dealership diag tool doesn't allow you to do that on newer models. (FYI, VCDS is not the diag tool used by VW dealerships). Vehicle configuration is done by connecting the car to the factory via the internet. It's done automatically. The technician doesn't actually change anything.
