Hi sorry for the long post in advance. So I have 2019 accent with 26k mile on it
2 weeks earlier the car started showing white smoke from the exhaust with bad and strong fuel smell and the car lost power, after scanning it with obd scanner it showed the following:
  • low fuel pressure in fuel rail
  • cylinder 3 misfire
The diagnose was that the fuel injector #3 was stuck open so i replaced it and the car run like a clock
back to the present
Yesterday the car started smoking and all the symptoms showed up again so after getting home and scanning it, it showed low fuel pressure in rail and cylinder #2 misfire so my question is it possible that the fuel injectors is failing one after another with 20k mile on it? Or is there something else that’s causing the injectors to fail? I’m puzzled please help

Depending on fuel quality it is absolutely possible that you continue to have failing injectors. any sort of particulates in the fuel will get caught in GDI injectors as they are incredibly highly pressured and have a very fine mist of fuel entering the combustion chamber directly.

Do you have a dealer near you? You have a 100,000 miles powertrain warranty, i believe.

A friend of mine recently had 2 fuel injectors go out back to back on her 2019 Accent. First time she was on the highway and engine started shuddering, suddenly strong gas smell. She was able to safely get off the highway, and once she shut down the engine it would not start again. Cost $500.00 to get the vehicle towed to nearest dealer, had to organize a ride etc. Luckily had warranty. Not even 3 weeks later she left home followed by her dad, Just a little ways down the road the same symptoms. Turned around to go back home and park, never started again. Same issue: fuel injector was stuck in open position. Now she's afraid to drive it because she travels back and forth 1 hour each trip every weekend, and worries to get stuck again on the highway. She also has low mileage.

I have and am still having the exact issue. Cylinder misfires around 1.5/2 months apart. Hyundai Sonata 2022. 1st time was under warranty. I am now in my 3rd engine misfire due to faulty GDI fuel injector. I use only premium fuel and drive around 15-40 miles day for work. Service department has informed me that eventually all cylinders will misfire and I will have the issue until all 4 injectors are replaced. I have also submitted a recall inquiry to possibly help me and others who are dealing with this matter.

I cannot understand why they wouldn’t just replace all 4 injectors the first time. But I guess that would have meant they were saving me money and not them. Ready to get rid of the car and never buy another Hyundai. I have purchased 3 cars from them; all brand new.
