Hi All,

I've 2014 Santa Fe Sport 2.4 AWD. From past few days my Front Passenger Door Lock/Unlock is not responding when i try to open via remote lock/Unlock buttons. All other door locks are working fine. I googled and found some issues with door actuators. Can anyone pls. help me understand if it is covered under warranty, If not how much it'd cost for me to fix it? I called one of the dealer here in NJ and they said to drop off the vehicle for diagnosis (Fee is $99) and if it is covered by manufacturer warranty then they will fix/replace it for free.

Thanks in advance,
Mahesh

I had this problem on my old 12' santa fe in the right front door. Sometimes the door locked, sometimes not. And worse, if I locked it before opening the driver's door (left), the system unlocked it and then didn't lock it when I locked the car, so I had to come back and manually lock that door.

The dealer exchanged the actuator under warranty and the problem was gone.

Will they charge you the $99 fee if they find the actuator is actually broken?

On a separate thought, is there a different Hyundai dealership you could go to that won't charge you for a diagnostic? That's pretty bad for what may turn out to be a warranty repair.

It should definitely be covered under the 5yr/60,000 mile new car warranty. They also can't charge you that diag. fee. It's all covered under the warranty. If the car was out of warranty, I could see them charging a diagnostic fee, but not since it's still under warranty.
