Folding Mirror Repair - Possible?

On Hyundai mirrors there is usually a connector behind the little triangle trim on the inside of the door that covers the mirror securing bolts. The first thing to do would be to count how many wires are on the connector. The folding mirror motor will need 2, the heating element will need another 2 and the mirror adjustment motor will need 3, so if you only have 5 wires there isn't any adjustment motor...or possibly no heating element.

Next you'll need to ID which wires are for the fold motor. Without a diagram that will be a process of elimination. A black wire will almost certainly be the heater element ground, and the heating element supply should be easy to find by starting the engine and switching the HRW on. Next find the 3 wires that have voltage when you move the mirror adjuster around. The two wires that are left must be for the fold motor. Connect a voltmeter across those to and work the fold switch and see if you get any voltage.

If the weather is good tomorrow, I'll get on it first thing in the morning
Yeah, the forecast looks good for the morning. I'm gonna get up early and take my wee plane up for it's MOT check flight tomorrow then maybe a flight doon the watter tae Bute for lunch before the rain comes.

could this also be a issue similar to the skoda's, where the wiring loom fractures / breaks in the bellows (flexible) section between the door frame and the door
Yes, it certainly could although it's not a common issue on Hyundai cars. In fact I've never personally seen that happen on a Hyundai and I was an auto electrician in a Hyundai dealership for several years.

Sounds like fun, used to fly in Chipmonks when I was in the ATC many moons ago, even took some lessons when I was living in Florida about 15 years ago but didn't keep it up...
My brother flew in Chipmonks too when he was in the ATC and I took a couple of lessons out of Kissimmee in Florida when I was learning to fly. Flying in the US is so cheap it would be daft not to :)

Anyway, I got the MOT check flight done but didn't make it to Bute before the rain came :(
Landing in the Drizzle

I assume you figured out L=Blue on the Hyundai wiring diagrams? What's the plan for the mirror, is it unrepairable?

Great job! Thanks for taking the time to video the repair.

You'll maybe need to add subtitles to your video though for the benefit of our American friends. I had to call a company that make camper vans over in Iowa yesterday (Northstar) for some technical advice and nobody there could make out my Scottish Accent. I was using my best BBC Scotland news anchor voice too

I think they should show episodes of "Still Game" in American schools to teach them how to speak proper English:
