Sounds like warranty time to me.

 

What does normal sound like on these? Mine is just a slow crunchy knock on both Traction control and ABS. In my experience with other cars, traction control is just the motor killing power/RPM's and ABS is a quick deadened pulsing sound.

In regards to ABS, mine does sound like a lound crunching noise too (on both my Sonata and my wife's Entourage). It seems that is how they designed the system.

For TCS, I don't recall hearing noises on either car other than wheels starting to spin. I'll pay attention and let you know if I hear anything. I wonder if its possible its the snow crunching for the TCS? I guess you could test it on a wet street and see if you hear the same sound.

Also, don't be afraid to use the warranty. One of the reasons why Hyundai is so great is the great warranty!

To my recollection, the ABS and TC sounds on her Entourage were the same "crunch". I need to take it in for an alignment anyhow, I'll have them check out those systems while they're at it.

My Santa Fe does not have ABS but a friend of mine used to have an '03 Elantra GT and the ABS in that thing was very noisy....probably the noisiest ABS system I've ever heard. Sounds like SOP to me but it never hurts to have it checked out.
