Can any one shed any light on this problem I am having?
The rear door of my i20 cannot be opened from the inside of the car. I checked the child lock on the door and it is in the unlock position so why won't it open from the inside?

I notice that you asked about this problem previously, but received no reply.

Rear Door Won't Open From Inside

Will the door open from outside? (Does your 2010 car have central-locking?)

If the door can be opened from outside but not from the inside, it's possible that - although the door's child-lock is not in the locked position - a fault with the door's locking mechanism means that child-lock is not actually disengaging. Basically, the door's lock mechanism 'thinks' the child-lock is in the lock position even when it is not.

What about the other rear door? Will that unlock from the inside when the its child-lock is off, and not unlock from the inside when its child-lock is on?

Yes it has central locking and both rear doors are doing the same which is bizarre. You could be right about the locking mechanism but could it be anything to do with the actuator?

Thanks for the reply by the way...

So are you saying that there is just a SINGLE door-lock actuator and this controls the locking of BOTH rear doors?

In his original posting above dilligaf101 said "The rear DOOR of my i20 cannot be opened from the inside of the car" and the title of this thread and that of dilligaf101's earlier enquiry may give the impression that only one rear door is affected. In fact both rear doors cannot be opened from inside his car.

There are on-line videos showing how to replace a defective rear door actuator of Hyundai i30 and i40 cars fitted with central locking and built around 2010. Those videos suggested (to me) that each rear door had an actuator in it, and also that accessing the actuator itself was far from straightforward.

Yes you're right DLUi20 about it being both doors, I should have worded the title better. It would be rather strange if both rear doors have a mechanically fault i.e. a rod has come off on each one.
If it's the actuator I can only assume there is one on each of the doors but again for them both to fail at the same time would be also strange.
I haven't got the time at the moment but when I do I will have to take the door cards off and investigate further...

I can now open the rear doors from the inside, turns out the rods were not clipped in on the back of the door cards for what ever reason, perhaps they popped out?
I put them back in but if it happens again I will modify it so they don't keep doing it.
