Nope but it took me a few weeks to get used to the steering. Check your tire pressure cold tomorrow morning and set to 32 all around then put a few more miles on the car.

 

I had my car for almost 2 weeks. I had the same issue. My old civic was a piece of junk and it could go straight no problem. Took it to the dealer, fixed it. Then I find I pull right, so took it to the dealer again. Oh my front left signal bulb stopped working too and they told me the bulb wasn't screwed in properly. So far not impressed.

I'm not doubting anyone, I just find it so odd that there would be an alignment problem already with your cars...

maybe there is a quality issue with your tires... did you look to see if there was any premature tread wear on your tires? while you are driving, you guys have said that its constantly pulling to the left. So that means that you can keep it straight but the car just pulls to the left. Have you noticed if your steering wheel is uneven? does it look like its turned to the right while you are driving straight?

if you've had alignment issues prior to this one, you will know what i mean... :thumbsup:

Seems it happens to the occasional Sonata and Elantra.

 

they are focusing on LIMITEDs with 17" tires

 

Which points to that this is not a problem isolated to a specific tire and rim combo, even a specific model. In my world of VW TDI's we don't have a thread for each engine code (BEW, BRM, BHW, etc.) that wears its cams and lifters, we have a thread for all Pumpe Duse (unit injector) engines that wear their cams and lifters.

The OP's (and his sonata driving friend's) problem could be totally unrelated, I am just making observations here and he can decide for himself if the information I have provided will lead him to an answer.

 

Mine only has 1100 miles on it and I find that it drifts to the left too. In fact, it seems to lean left or right depending on the road. I had an SUV before so I'm not sure if this is normal.

I'm not sure if it's normal or not but it is bloody annoying. Don't get me wrong, fantastic car but the steering is not a strong-point in my opinion. Drifts left, right and unless you are on perfectly level highway surface, the steering wheel is turned slightly. For a GLS that only has 600km's on it I'm not impressed.

It will be interesting to see how Hyundai handles this and I will expect it to be taken care of. I've already been back to let them know that my Bluetooth connection has an echo as per the sticky regarding 3.12.2 software version. The tech totally agreed with me and we paired with a 3.13 radio and no echo. Hyundai Canada's responce so far has been "change the microphone". Wrong answer - correct answer - update the software to 3.13.

My point is, how long is it going to take them to get the the steering issue figured out and I'm sure there is an issue. I see a lot of hoops in my future.

I have a feeling I'm in the same boat as you. I already went back to dealer twice. I still get the feeling I'm slightly being pulled left or right. It never felt this difficult to stay straight with my 01 civic. Let me know how it goes. Am I allowed to bring my car to any Hyundai dealer to get work done. I'm beginning to feel like I should try another dealership.

 

Knock on wood, I have had no problems whatsoever with pulling/drifting with my car. I had to order my car since I wanted a specific color combination and options but I made sure that I took the car that I ordered for a pretty long test drive and one of the first things I did was hit the highway and then let go of the wheel. My car handles like it's on rails. Unlike a lot of other folks on this forum, I really like the steering feel and response in my Elantra. It feels like the car practically steers itself and I barely have to touch the wheel to steer it. Drives nice and straight and it is a Limited with the 17" wheels too. No clue why some people are experiencing these issues while others are not. I just hope that mine stays this way as I really enjoy driving it. Kind of feels like I am driving a go-kart which is actually kind of what I was looking for and is almost a 100% reverse shift from the larger CUV I had before the Elantra; that one required more "muscle" to steer it and now in retrospect I know I had to assist the wheel a bit more with that car as far as keeping it in a straight line. Only thing I have noticed which may be a minor complaint is that on a windy day the car seems to get blown around a bit more on the highway even though it's a much lower profile vehicle, especially in comparison to my previous Mitsubishi CUV. Go figure :mellow:

mine drifts to the right. lol
im chalking it up to the fact that all my cars till now were rear wheel drive. it seems when the elantra hits a road groove thats where it wants to go, left or right. still getting used to this.

 

Took my week old Limited out for a 40 mile highway ride to check this out today. It would occasionally and slowly (at 65 mph) wander left but just as occasionally wander right. For now I don't see anything abnormal about it as any car will wanders overtime/distance.. guess the question is how fast it wanders and at what speed?

 

I have a friend who has a BMW and I asked him to ride in my car with me so I could get his opinion of the left drift. I found a straight road and let go of the wheel and it started to drift left. He said his car does the same thing and there's a big difference between drifting slowly and a sudden pull. He said cars do that and he wouldn't worry about it. I don't remember my SUV ever doing that though, but it was rear wheel drive.

you really shouldn't compare a SUV to a car like the Elantra, every single aspect of both vehicles are totally different.

its good you got a second honest opinion from a friend.

 

Install adjustable camber bolt...Send for alignment and this should help.

 

just came back from the dealewr for my pulling prob.
they did a alinement. tracks better now, no pulling.
i found that sonata and kia's have this problem also
there is tech bullitin for kia.gives new spec for alinement
