Unless you get the 2.0T you can't get HID headlights, LED tail lights, and the Infinity Logic Surround Sound system.

 

Aren't the wheels different too?

Thanks so much. Old lady says it's between terrain, edge and sfs. Of course I think best is sfs but she wants final say.

 

I also considered the Edge. The thing is, it is on the last model year and a totally new one is coming out in the fall. Also, it feels and drives like a huge vehicle and gas mileage is even worse than SFS.

 

Had an Equinox. SFS is several steps up!

 

My brother in law has a terrain... can't believe the lack of personal space in that thing! It's much narrower - not as much leg room... and much less cargo space. Plus... how many GM recalls lately!??!?!

Edge... Meh. doesn't do much for me.. .especially in the interior of the vehicle.

 

Thanks all. She currently has an Edge and loves it but is getting CEL's after 6 yrs and 105000 miles. So, back to a new car and warranty.

 

My Dad has the 2012 edge.
I find the ride is stiffer then the sfs.
It has similar space inside.
The cargo space is less on the edge.
The only thing the Edge has over the sfs is the power lift gate. Which is great except when your sitting on your sofa lean on the remote and have the power lift gate open up and leave all your **** in your trunk to everyone that's walking by. It has happened.

 

Problem is, price difference between the 2 when fully loaded is not much, only way to save real money is to buy a 2.4 base (with 4.3" screen and back up camera options)

 

Or if more manufacturers did 0% financing.

 

Of you're too occupied to look at the difference between cars you want to buy than maybe you shouldn't buy a car. LOL.

Honestly, the best thing for me was the website. It broke it all down and lists features in point form. Print it off and highlight the differences. Takes 10 minutes.

 

If you don't like the SFS you can always go look at the Kia Sorento. You will get a V6 model as well with only a second row and with more power with an engine with a better track record than both the 2.4L and the 2.0T.

 

Yes, nicer engine, perhaps more equipment. But so ugly... The SFS looks so much better than the Sorrento.

 

If you don't live in a high altitude, Go with the 2.0 turbo. I have the 2.4 and you can hear the car scream when I'm leaving a toll booth.

 

The unmentioned difference is that when you put your foot down on the pedal, the 2.0T will get up and go. It'll put a smile on your face while simultaneously pushing you back into your seat. Some 2.4 owners will never understand that thrill but I'm happy for them anyway. (Although I have stated misgivings about buying the SF, I've never regretted buying the more powerful engine.)

By the way, what is flaming? Really, I don't know and hope I didn't do it.

 

I agree with you 100 % about the motor! And both of these motors will return very similar fuel economy if they are driven with the same light right foot. I just wish that I had purchased a 2014 instead of a 2013.

 

Thank you for the explanation Okie. I agree the mods and membership have kept this forum entertaining, helpful and polite. As far as I am concerned it's one of the better benefits of owning a Hyundai SF.
