OK so here is a quick pic of the Cree 80W H7 LED replacement installed.
Yes they are brighter at night when used in the high beam position, but the main reason for doing this is so that it eliminates that ugly (to me) yellowish bulb. Matches the rest of the lighting much better (IMO).:nerd:

My experience with LED headlights is that the light output is not focused on the road, like standard head light bulbs. Perhaps half, or more, of the LED light output goes up towards the sky, and too far left and right off the road, leaving less light than the standard high beam bulb on the road far ahead.

I suspect that is the case with the Cree 80W H7 LEDs. I'd love someone to prove me wrong.

Did the same with mine and also have LED replacements for the fogs, just have not been able to get them installed. I dont have ramps and I'm to big of a guy to squeeze under the front end.

I totally agree, I very much disliked the look of the yellow halogen DRL's. I also replaced the license plate bulbs. I now have the nice "cool white" glow on the arse end of the car.

No need to squeeze under the car. There is a screw at each wheel where the bumper meets the fender, turn the wheel, take out screw and the screws/bolts/clips (i forget exactly, but not many) that are located on top of the grille under the hood and with a light pull, the bumper cover will release with ease. You can access the fogs that way if you are unable to get under the car or the inner fender liner pulled away enough to reach your hand in.

For those whom have made the upgrade, did you do this yourself? Like I said in my last post, I'm to big to get under the front end and do any work. I also have no ramps, neither do my neighbors ( ahh, the good old days when guys worked on their cars in the driveway).

I guess I'm going to have to swing in to a shop and see if they'll do the install. Should not take more than 15 minutes of their time. Just dont want to do it at my dealer and get OVERCHARGED for a very simple task.

This is so easy. Open the hood, reach behind headlight assembly, take off dust cap, remove OE bulb, unplug, plug in new LED's, place LED in and twist so it locks in place and then put dust cap back on. Viola! Done!!! 20minutes, 17 of those minutes are used to drink your beer.

Opps, I should have clarified. I did to the DRL's myself. I just cannot get to the fogs.

I have no way of elevating the front end of the car to be able to remove the plastic panel and do the fogs. If one of my neighbor's had ramps, wouldnt be a problem, but none do, since nobody works on their own cars.

I never use my DRLs. Still don' t know why some likes to use them unless it is require by law. I much prefer the look of a stock LED eye brows when my parking lights, or lo beams are on. I decided to go with Philips H7 X-treme Vision +100% bulbs. Just for hi beams use if I have to. It seems they have a longer illumination range then other H7 competitors. Didn't have a chance to put them in yet - broke my left arm, still in a cast. I am also thinking to replace a reverse lights with LEDs, but my concern is whether new lights will be too bright at night for the back up camera and view screen.

The DRL'S are not on with stalk switch in 1st detent position. Now, if you start the car and go to front of said car the yellowish DRL'S are on. This is what we have been discussing for well over a year. Like I stated before, The eyebrow's are on in the parking light position (1st detent) all is good, however when you start the car then the front end has the low beam (DRL) portion of the bulb lit with approx. 5 volts, when you pull back on stalk to turn on high beams then the full 13.8 volts are applied to the same H7 bulb. The customer service group for Hyundai in California can not help us with this situation I tried in vain to explain the actual look of the front end with parking lights on and never did make them understand. The answer they gave me was the stalk has a DRL off position so why not use it if you want the drl's off. The yellow/orange look of the bulb is because of the low voltage applied to the bulb. The replacing of the H7 bulb with 80 watt cree
as suggested in this post will more closely resemble the color of the eyebrows, however it will sacrifice the bulbs ability to light up the road in high beam position. What we need is the DRL delete harness that can be purchased for the Sonata, but not available for the Azera because of different wiring/connectors.

Switch to HID's

Those LED's does not have enough lumens or light output. They are only good for aesthetics. Switch to HID's with 55 watts AC ballast and you will never regret it. All my lights (DRL/DIm, high beams and fog lights) for my 2012 Sonata uses 55 HID bulbs with watts AC ballast. It was a switch between light and day.:grin2:

I used these 80 W bulbs for my fog lights in my Sonata; I have been very pleased with them as a replacement for the H8 fog bulbs; these are 800-900 lumens. For high beam headlights (and DRL), I went with something like this (these are 3000 lumens- in DRL mode they are very white, in high beam mode they are very, very bright.

CREE 60W 6000LM 6000K H4 Hi Lo H7 H8 H9 H11 9005 9006 LED Head Light 1 Lamp Bulb | eBay

Mine are not 3000 lm; but only 2000lm, which is still more than a stock H7.

No doubt they are very, very bight - just like most of LED bulbs. But do they outperform a good halogen bulb (H7 in my car) for illumination range of high beam? I doubt it.

Talk about over running a thread with a bunch of..., start another thread with where this will relate to. This is just about me installing a LED bulb for my DRL and I dont give a !@#% about how well they work as a high beam or what the law mandates. I can see great with my OE HID's ans HID's in my fogs, it blinds most oncoming traffic as it is.
AND yes, I need a tissue :crying2:
I'm done crying now, wait..., yeah I'm done

I disagree with the idea that the thread has derailed. I for one appreciate the included discussion of lumens, etc because I am considering changing my bulbs. With that I prefer/expect the bulbs to at least be lawful and illuminate just as well/better than the OEM light...something us not so knowledgeable ones may not have considered. The discussions are indeed very much related.

Thanks to everyone for sharing

You cannot go by lumens. LED's with much higer lumen count may not be as bright as traditional incandescents.

LED's have high lumen count, but the light is VERY directional - the workaround is to make the LED bulb with LOTS of led modules around the bulb to get the type of universal throw lighting that you get with incandescents. (The other factor is much of the incandescents light comes from the reflector lens and the light hitting it. LED's typically have a projector lens for the light going forward and a few LED's on the side for hitting the reflector.

Generally - LED's will be a bit brighter with probably a bit more throw and incadescents will have a bit more scatter. (I.e. - for reverse lights - LED's will show you further behind the car, and incandescents will show more to the sides but not as far.). I don't have a rear view camera, but most cameras don't do well in low light, so anything that helps light output can probably only help the camera.) - http://www.corollaforum.com/showpost.php?p=17241&postcount=8 - That's on a Corolla, but look especially at how much difference LED license lights help the camera image and how little LED reverse lights really helped.

Those look like good LED's to me.

I've replaced the license plate, dome, and trunk lights (same seller as the OP) and the HMSL and reverse lights with LED's. Generally the LED output is SLIGHTLY better than OEM - but the light is a much bluer/whiter (non-yellow) white. Makes the car look newer ...

If you look at the fog light lens you will see a chrome dome in front of the bulb...I thought that this would reflect and re focus the light____it does not.. The inside of this dome is painted flat black.
All the LED bulbs have the highest powered LED bulb in the front so that dome blocks most of that
Light killing light output.......Power LED bulbs need to be positioned on the side to be more effective

i switched out my high beams for LEDs...they look great in daytime, the pics don't really capture it properly. they are not that bright but bright enough and a near perfect match on the color (WHITE) if you want to run your parking lights which is what these PICS show - they look a lot like the first post in this thread. however, the actual high beam is pretty diminished. i would say the high beam goes more UP than OUT and the distance they project is maybe as far as the low beam - distance out wise - and there is not much additional light...some but not much. just an FYI.

this is the one i bought. 10 min to replace. easy as pie. plug and go. its says fog but for the Azera , this is the high beam.
