Correct Coolant To Use?

My 2006 Accent owner's manual says to use high quality ethlyene-glycol coolant in a 50-50 mix with water. The coolant should be compatible with aluminum engine parts. Additional corrosion inhibitors or additives should not be used. Prestone has a 50/50 extended use prediluted coolant in the stores that lists the following ingredients: water, ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, sodium 2-ethyl hexanoate and sodium neodecanoate.

Among other listed benefits/features it says it provides extended rust and corrosion protection.

Is this coolant ok to use? What gives me pause is that it mentions providing rust and corrosion protection. I'm not sure if the owner's manual meant that the cooolant shouldn't have that protection or whether it meant don't use additional rust and corrosion protection products in addition to what the coolant provides.

Thanks for any advice/recommendations.

I wasn't sure what to get either, so I went to the dealer for coolant because mine needed to be topped off...   The Hyundai coolant from the dealer is in the mid $20-range when I needed some in 2007, ridiculous for a 30,000 mile coolant.    In contrast, I bought Toyota long life coolant for my wife's car that's good for a heck of a lot longer than 30k and was a lot cheaper.

I don't know what the shop used that flushed mine, it's green - that's about all I know.

Hyundai seems to be one of the last car companies that isn't specifying an advanced coolant for their engines. Honda, Toyota, Ford, GM (Dexcool), are all using new, long-life coolants and are scaring the crap out of their owners with warnings to use nothing but oem. Any good old green coolant should work fine in a Hyundai.

check the color of your water/anti-freeze, the newer long life stuff is red in color. if your cooling system is filled with red water/anti-freeze then you must only use the red to top it up as the new red long life will not mix with anything else. however all the older types (green, yellow and sometimes blue) will mix with each other with no problems
