Just started my car to run down to the store 30 second-40 second drive. Shut off the car. Turned the car back on to come home and about 15 seconds into it the Check Engine light came on.

Threw in my code reader and it said: P0326

Looked it up online and this said "Knock Sensor 2" but that was for older model accents...

Can someone guide me in the right direction here. Is this safe to drive on, or should I bring it in immediately?

The engine light is Solid, not flashing, called my dealer said it's OK to drive on as long as it's not flashing, and that they 'don't give out codes' which I find a load of bs.

Anyway... it's going in next thursday... so I have to drive on it for a week. We'll see.

According to my days as TOYOTA Master Tech, Knock sesnor is looking for certain frequncy of sound from block along with PCM logic to determine knock and relative timing adjustment to reduce/eliminate knock at off idle load.

Play it right, and a crank or rod knock at right frequency will drive the PCM nutz. Seen 1 where engine overhaul drove 1 crazy,, TOYOTA had fella goof with it, ran new wire couple times, then figured out it was caused by the fact that during head gasket replacement, the deck was eroded, so the machine shop shave the deck, along with the heads, and the aaded knock activity drove PCM nutz... remedy,, it did not get new shortblock, TOYOTA wasnt paying for that.. tech moved knock sensor down to motor mount and a new longer wire.

I doubt Techron by itself would do that, unless there was too much of it for the volume of gas in the tank. I have put 4 bottles of the stuff through my fuel system so far, with no issues. Approximately one bottle every 5,000 miles. (These were the smaller bottle, that treats up to 15 gallons, I think) Techron plus some bad gas - that might do it. As an additive, Techron waters down the gasoline, and if the gas in your tank has already been watered down by the vendor with something else to extend it, then you could possibly get a gas mix that was outside the requirements. I once had a tank of 87 octane that pinged badly under acceleration. Luckily it was only a half tank, and I was able to stop and add 91 octane to it to stop the pinging. Adding something else that's not even gas into that mix, like Techron or some fuel injector cleaner, and no doubt it would have been even worse.

I started getting this code 3 weeks ago. Fortunately I'm still under warranty. Here is what the dealership told me the process is:
Step 1: assume it's an anomaly, clear it. If it happens again
Step 2: replace the ECM (computer). If it happens again
Step 3: replace the knock sensor. If it happens again
Step 4: replace the head - final solution.
I asked how often this is necessary with 2012 Accent the answer was about 30% of the time. There is something about the factory head on that model that really wreaks havoc with that sensor.

Software update to revise 0326 DTC logic.. also a host of other jibberish in the program to make a bunch of other things better,, also hit the TCM side and verify all up to date there also..

I have a 2013 Accent and my CEL just came on and I was told it was P0326 error code and I needed to replace the Knock sensor. Can I drive my car with this light on until I can get it to dealer. And is this a software update issue or do I need to have the sensor replaced? I drive 43 miles one way every day to work. Can I clear the code myself? I saw a few posts about running high grade fuel to fix the issue.
Don't know a whole lot about cars so not sure where to go from here?
Thank you

Uhhh,,, There is a PCM update to revise 0326 logic...

While plugged in and doing upgrade, may as well run the menu of offered updates and verify TCM current also if trans offered..

No mention of mileage.. Warranty 5yr / 60,000... dealer will be required to scan, see the offending 0326, and perform PCM update as mandated by Hyundai Motor in TSB..

Software update has to be done first per Hyundai Motor.. they will not pay claim for sensor replace when there is an update.. the current update revises DTC logic for bot 0326 and 0441

Event number 355 on GDS, should pop up when ROM is read
