My 3 year complimentary Bluelink recently expired and looking at renewing. They have separate "connected" and "remote" packages. Really nothing in the "connected" package I want, just want the "remote" mainly for starting the car and the door locks. Called Bluelink and they only offer 40% off on the connected service.....so basically pay full price for the "remote" that I want and than pay an extra 60% for something I don't want... Right now it's $178 for 2 years and $252 for 3 years.

Anyway, any luck getting a discount on the remote? Just have found it really handy because at work I work in a location that is too far away for the key fob to work, and can't see the vehicle. At home it's nice to not have to stick my head out the door with the key fob to verify the car started in the morning. I know, I know...just suck it up. But I went 25 years without remote start but now spoiled by it.

For about the price of renewal, you can get an aftermarket remote start. Did that in my last car and it was more reliable than BlueLink.
Spoiled? Sure, I've had remote start since 2010 and won't be without it.

But the remote start does not preset the parameters of heating and air conditioning, engine duration, nor accessories settings, like defrost, heated steering wheel and more depending on the model.

The way they do their promo codes, it's tied to your VIN and someone elses promo probably wont work for you.

I got the screen below when trying BLUELINK50. Worth a try of course, but don't be surprised if you get rejected.

I've seen several people (including myself) say if you wait a few months after it lapses, they'll send you a discount e-mail to try and get you back. You may also have luck calling them directly and threatening to end your subscription without a discount.

It worked for me, but for monthly only. Still not worth the $20/month in my opinion.

I did call and talk to the Bluelink rep in person, in addition to the discount codes they sent me. But again they ONLY discount the "connected" option and did not discount the "remote" option, which is what I want. Using any "discount" codes would actually cost me more money because I would be paying for the additional package. The normal price for the remote feature is $178 for 2 years, or $89/year. To use any discounts I would have to also buy the "connected" option for an additional $178 for 2 years. That means I would still pay the $178 for the remote service but then have to pay an additional $89 (50% off) for the connected service.

No way I am going to put an aftermarket remote starter on the car, especially since it already has a factory remote start. Worked on cars and such for a long time and can't count how many times aftermarket electrical accessories have caused issues. I can remote start the car using the factory setup with the fob, but not through the app on my phone which is really convenient.

In the grand scheme of things $89 over a full year is no big deal for something I use pretty regularly during the winter. Heck, I spend more than that on coffee in the mornings at the local quickie mart.

From my understanding for the remote package to work, you have to also purchase the connected package.

My subscription was ending Aug 17 the after 3 years with my 2022 Tucson Hybrid. I got an email with a 40 per cent off code and tried to use it. The web site wouldn't let me pay for a yearly subscription. Called Bluelink support and he couldn't do it either. He wrote a trouble ticket and extended my subscription one month because I told him I had a service issue with the car that would not be resolved until Sept 3rd. I got a voicemail from Hyundai Bluelink support that said the coupon wouldn't work until my subscription expires. So why send a coupon with a limited time only message if you can't use it? The coupon is only good for the basic plan, but I need the remote portion as well. Hope I don't need the service when my coverage is lapsed and I can get it renewed. I didn't use it for my 2012 but I like the battery health and remote lock/unlock feature.

Where I live and with my style of driving I find the Bluelink almost useless. My car is parked in my garage, out of the hot and cold and I rarely need any of the Bluelink features. Many time when I try using Bluelink it does not work. I will not renew it, like I did not renew Sirius.

Funny...... everyone of my new cars came with Sirius and I never have used it. I would rather they not even offer an initial period of time for free even on new vehicles - that way I dont get bugged to activate or renew it.

In the past when I received unwanted mail that had a stamped return envelope, I would stuff trash in the return envelope with a note to stop sending this trash and send it to them. Sometimes that worked. Today, it seems solicitors don't use stamped return envelopes! So, on my way from my mail box, I stop by my burn barrel and deposit all the junk mail. In this digital age there is not as much junk mail, just endless crap on the Internet and cell phones.
