Hi Everyone! This is my first post, as I just picked up a 2002 Sonata GL 2.4 for my winter car. Its in decent shape, but the alternator was seized... I got the alternator disconnected and removed from the engine, but how the heck do you get it out of the engine bay? I have done searching and it says to take it out from the top, but the ABS module is in the way. I cannot for the life of me figure it out... plus I am tired from working on it all afternoon/night. :) It looks like it MAY* fit by if I remove the tensioner bracket but I don't know how to remove the water pump as it is in a awkward position against the body of the car. Is there anyone who can give me some insight please ?

Thanks!!

Having never seen one, I can at least tell you how some other cars were able to remove the alternator. It removes from underneath. You have to jack up the car and take the tension off the wheel, take off the wheel, take off the plastic cover off, and then there should be enough room to pull out the alternator.

from the top, remove the cruiss control and the electrical solenoids, engine mount and jack the engine up on the front of the engine.
