Has anyone actually heard this thing?
Is it that much better than the base model?
Hard to justify 2900 for a heated wheel and sunroof.
If the Infinity is way better, it would be an easier decision.

I've heard it (since I own a Santa Fe with the Infinity package). It's probably one of the best stereo experiences I have heard in a car (and I have friends with cars that have Bose and Bang and Olufsen setups).

But the highlight of the upgrade package is not the stereo, it's the "sunroof"... because, it's not just a sunroof... It's an amazing "virtual convertible" (so to speak).

Of all the things I love about my new car, the sound is at the top of the list! Admittedly, almost anything is better than my previous 2002 Elantra GLS with a tape deck...so although I would have been easily impressed by any newer sound system I do think the Infinity speakers are wonderful. I listened strictly to talk radio and audiobooks in my old car because music lost all its magic through those old speakers.
It's like I've been reintroduced to my music library. I love the dash speaker and the surround sound. The way the speakers automatically adjust the volume down on only the front speakers so you can hear the navigation instructions without completely muting the song is also great.
I did want the other options included in the package (love that panoramic roof) so while I liked the idea of better sound I wouldn't have purchased it just for the speakers...but then again, before I owned it I couldn't turn up my music and appreciate it fully!

I'm a self proclaimed audiophile/sound snob. Read: I'll actually sit and listen to albums with high end headphones in a room by myself for fun. (I know, nerd! :) )

In my opinion, the system in question is ridiculously good for a stock audio system. Just note that if you stream wirelessly from a device, quality drops. The HD Radio is a nice touch that makes even regular old FM radio tolerable. I'm really enjoying the USB option with my flash drive and even have two 64GB drives on order to rotate. (128GB is outrageously expensive still.)

I have yet to try the "My Music" feature, copying to the internal memory. I still haven't seen a solid answer on exactly how much storage there is. It's a question i'll bring to the dealer for the first service, but I doubt they will know. I get better answers from google and this site!

I'm a geek and enjoy gadgets and gizmos, so the other items in the package are okay with me.

I have compared the 2 as I sat in a Limited model and the model I currently have that does not have the infinity system. I will tell you that it does make a difference. The bass is substancially better since you get a Sub woofer with the infinity. The clearity is much better and you can feel the sound too as the sound travels through your body. It is a nice option if you really want better sound quality.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

By "stock" I mean an audio system that comes with the car, regardless of model. I used to buy aftermarket head units, speakers, and amplifiers to get a good, quality sound.

I can't offer a comparison to the other models, as I knew I wanted the tech package from the get-go, so that's the only one I've heard.

My dealer doesn't handle the Infinty pack so I went with the stock audio system and sounded like crap... my SF 2013 was delivered on Aug 26th so by now I upgraded everything except the head unit:

Pioneer GM-6300F 4-Channel 600-Watt
4 Infinity Kappa 682.11cf (these are 5*8 and had to modify a bit the inside of the door panels)
2 Rockford Fosgate Fanatic X Tweeters (Old school but whistle good enough)
Pioneer Gm-D7400M Mono Amplifier 800-Watt
Bazooka BT1024DVC BT
All handled with a Kicker KQ9
Sounds pretty good, still fighting a bit of a ground hiss.... hope to finish it up this weekend...

Also installed H7 HID Schwartz 4300k....

New to the forum. Are you able to take a view pictures of your set up? Also, were did you get the H7 HID? Is that for the headlights?

Just so people know about this I am posting some links. I plan on purchasing a SF without the tech package but I will be adding Charles' product to it....

Compass Nav

About $750 if I remember correctly.
If I remember correctly, I think this system is a retrofit...therefore you have to already have the Infinity System that comes with the Tech package.

I added an under seat sub by Kicker (the Hideaway) and I love the extra punch. I am extremely happy with the Infinity system. Although, when my 14 year old is in the car and I let him listen to his rap music, then I start to regret adding the Kicker.;)

Sunroof...agree, super nice!! Frankly, I wasn't thrilled about having to get it 'cause we never used our sunroof in our highlander. But this thing just opens up the entire interior. My wife loves it.

I'll have to admit the Infinity system is darn nice. I wanted the tech package for the NAV system but it turned the Infinity system turned out to be a big part of it. I went Turbo because of the saddle leather but the Infinity system factored big into the decision.

The base system is not bad for a base radio system. The Dimensions system is night and day better than the base radio. The Infinity system is night and day better than the Dimensions radio.

I have yet to test the My jukebox feature but everything else sounds great except the Bluetooth streaming, which is only good and expected for Bluetooth.

The infinity is nice but it is not as good as a Bose I have in my CX-9. The lows and bass is not really strong, I am not talking thump either just good hitting bass - suggest the kicker hideaway as others have done. The Pano is great so that option alone is worth $1500-$1700, lets peg the audio upgrade at $400-$500 the heated wheel $75, Nav $300, and shades at $50. That added up gets around the $2900 mark for the package - you should be getting at least 15% off that with invoice or deal pricing. So if you have to justify it you kinda can in this way.

I agree although it's nothing all that important to me, it's a nice sounding system but nothing really exceptional despite the much ballyhooed use of 12 speakers.

I don't hear a lot of good clear sounds from the higher octave ranges.

I don't have anything to compare but i like the sound system i think it sounds excellent. i hear all the hihgs and lows but i also set up the system how i like it. My big question where are the 12 speakers I can only count 10.

Front - Speaker in each door/ Tweeter in the corner of door. Center Speaker. 5 Total
Rear - Speaker in each door/ 2 Total
Cargo - Speaker in each side and subwoofer on the driver side. 3 Total

That only equals 10 Speakers so what gives. So Am i just an idiot?

Im slow i cant find them, I tried to take pictures but my battery in my camera are done. Still don't see the ines your describing in the front door all i see iis the tweeters by the mirrors and main big speaker in the center of the door. Either way i think it sounds great.

good find! The dealer told me backwards, the dual speakers are in the rear door not the front. That actually makes more sense now that I think about it. You have the high mounted tweeters in the front so you wouldn't need or want more tweeters mounted low.

I have a Limited which includes the Infinity system. It's good, but not perfect. Bass just doesn't quite kick like it should. I wish there were more equalizer options to fine-tune it, but that's factory stereo for you.

Overall I like it, but it's not the best factory upgraded sound system I've had.
