I am having my OEM hitch installed Monday. Mostly for bike rack. In the future I plan on towing a small trailer. Do I need to purchase and install the wiring harness at same time as hitch install or is it easy enough to do that in the future when I need it?

The wiring harness can be installed either before or after the hitch installation. The factory hitch does not interfere at all with the wiring harness installation.

Can I ask how much it was? My Curt has been pushed back to August. Etrailer has same delivery, so looks like it's a Curt issue. Don't have to have it yet since I also have an Expedition, but quick bike trips would be good in the Santa Fe.

I got it through my dealer and then asked for 10% off. So with tax and discount came to $370. I am buying the 7 pin harness online through Kia based on comments above that provided part number.

Could you post a photo of what the curt hitch looks like installed?
Here is the one I installed on my 2021 Santa Fe Limited. Nothing shows except the receiver & the safety chain hook up.

Well realtruck.com finally sent me shipping notification for my Curt hitch. $190 shipped. Don't see it listed on the website anymore though. I have a 4 pin cable ready to put on also while I'm under there. Don't really plan on towing much, usually just used for a carrier or bike rack, but do have a small 4x8 flatbed for kayaks that might get used on the Santa Fe now instead of the 180K mile Expedition...

I plan on wiring up a 7 pin for mine once we decide on if we are buying a boat. If we go the kayak route then no 7 pin is needed. I thought it was typical for a lot of vehicles to not be prewired for a 7 pin. I think I read somewhere that on the Kia forums someone used the 7 pin harness from the Telluride on the Santa Fe and it was plug and play? There is a connector under the dash for tapping into the brake controller wire. Can't remember where I read that.

There is this option as well. Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional Curt Trailer Brake Controller C51180 (etrailer.com) But it still appears you need the 7 way connector/power.

a lot of vehicles don't but since this requires 7 pin to be able to tow the maximum of 3500 pounds they really lied to us. the problem I have with the echo controller is you want to remove it every time you drop your boat in or someone will definitely steal it.

From a legality perspective I know of no state that requires trailer brakes at 2500lbs. Might be of course, but usually it's 3k or 3.5k lbs. Not a lot of 2500 boats even have trailer brakes.

I wonder it the Telly 7 pin harness is actually delivering 7 pin support. Unless I've missed it in this thread, there is no factory way to integrate a break controller and 12V aux, both of which are needed to properly use 7 pin and actually get electric brakes to work.

Surge brakes, like on a U-haul, excepted of course.

The wireless controller looks nice if you have 12V and are prepared to give up instant in cab control.

apparently with the telluride harness its got 12v prewired.

I am sure I will be fine but its more a safety aspect and I feel lied to.
Hyundai is telling me I cannot safely tow over 1600 pounds.

has anyone checked if the limited/calig has a spot for a brake controller up front?

My Curt came in last week from RealTruck for $190 shipped. Not listed on the website now... Pretty quick install. Drop the spare, unhook a few exhaust hangers, and put in 6 (included) bolts. Added a 4 pin Curt connector that was plug and play in case I ever want to pull my little trailer. 30 min maybe start to finish. Can get same at e-trailer for far less than dealer also.
