Probably the rear camera no longer works. Mine was the same so, I ended up just getting an aftermarket radio and installed a back up camera to the head unit.

 

See below. If you're comfortable, seems you can get one off of eBay and replace just the camera. If you have the extended warranty you may be able to get that replaced as well.

My rear Back up camera failed to come on when I am in reverse. The screen is black with no lines. any ideas where to look?

That happened to the camera in my 2013 GLS when it kept getting wet a few years ago. I let it dry out and coated it in liquid gasket (Permatex Black Silicone Sealant) and it has been working fine since then.

If you need to replace, P/N is 95760-B8000 for a head unit with NAV, and P/N 95760-B8150 is for a head unit w/o NAV.

Geeze... video is quite fast on all the things you need to take off to get to camera. Any lessons learned that could help me with this? I am going to attempt this coming coming weekend....

 

and a new camera is $334 from hyundai, the ebay ones are $100... anyone have experience with the knockoff cameras?

 

Disconnecting all of the clips is a little tedious, but I thought it was pretty straight-forward.

The trouble with the third-party cameras is you don't necessarily know if they display the grid lines. If you have a head unit with NAV, you could potentially have double grid lines if the camera also has them. If you have a head unit w/o NAV, then you could potentially have no grid lines if the camera doesn't have them. They're certainly cheap enough to try out if you can live with double or no grid lines.

 

looks like from your video there are alot of screws/bolts to come out - how many clips are there? and do I need to buy some replacements just in case from hyundai?

 

That's not my video, just someone else's that I found online. I did mine three years ago, so I don't remember how many clips there were, just that there were quite a few of them. I did break a few, so it couldn't hurt to have extras on hand, but there were enough left intact to keep everything together along with the screws for me.
