2011 Sonata GLS thermostat housing is leaking

I am original owner of a manual transmission 2011 Sonata GLS with about 85,00 miles. Car recently overheated a few times. No visible fluids under car at any time. I took the car to a Goodyear service center and I explained the situation to them and asked them to check the car out and let me know. They told me the thermostat housing was leaking coolant and needed to be replaced and gave me a quote to do that and replace thermostat and gaskets plus a coolant flush for $500.
I told them to go ahead and after they did the work they told me the housing was still leaking and since the new housing didn't solve the problem they put the old one back on and suggested I go to Hyundai. No charge. Since then, 9/2/21, car is running fine and coolant level hasn't moved . Today it's down toward the low line of reservoir so I assume there's still a small leak. Goodyear rep said he didn't know why the new housing didn't solve the problem but said sometimes with aftermarket parts there's a slight difference in specs which could cause this. Has anyone had this problem?

IMHO the main problem is going to a franchise shop like Goodyear.
Look for a good independent shop. Ask friends & family, or yelp.com etc.
Plan B is the dealer, but they will likely look for other things that aren't in perfect shape, to pad the bill.
So don't let them turn this into a restoration project.

Thanks for the recommendation. There is an independent shop that I've heard good things about. I took it to Goodyear because they are very close to home and I have oil changed there regularly. They also did my front brakes in 2019. I called dealer before deciding to having work done at Goodyear and their service department couldn't give me an estimate on doing the job. All he could tell me was that their labor rate was $200/hour and it would probably be a 2 to 3 hour job.
