I am dealing with a dealer on a black limited 2011 sight unseen so far.... He mentioned in our negotiations there is a dealer package that is mandatory which includes nitrogen, gas, paint protection etc.. etc.. HE ALSO SAID PINSTRIPES

Do they do this before they put it for sale? I am afraid i don't want pinstripes, it seems like most people don't... Look elsewhere? I will talk to him tomorrow, so i'd like to know what i should say?

IMHO Anything that isn't tax, title, and paper work fees is not mandatory.

Heck on my invoice paper that was attached by Hyundai it said the price included a full tank of gas as far I am concerned that means its part of the car price I negotiated just like the other options.

Nitrogen wtf is that even about? They supposedly fill your tires with Nitrogen...and what will you do when its low on pressure? Fill it with good old free air the normal kind. A bunch of hooey if you ask me. If they want to throw it in for free great. But I am not paying for a gas they supposedly inflated the tires with and I have no way of actually knowing.

Paint Protection is just basically spray on wax. You can take it to a car wash and do the same thing for $10 And I am sure they want $200.

Pin Stripes I got them on my car. I didn't ask for them they apparently just pin stripe the crap out of everything they sell. It looked good so I kept it on. Didn't pay for it though which is the only reason they stayed on. Its bad enough they tossed their dealer logo on without me asking.

Frankly say you won't pay for the "dealer" package. You don't want it and you won't pay them for it. If they say they can't then leave. Don't ever appear desperate for a car with the dealers IMO. Show that they need you a lot more then you need them. There are plenty of cars out there for you and even if you are desperate never let it show.

Good luck!

Problem in florida... All these hyundai dealers are crazy . They think they have gold... Basically if you don't pay what they say, they say "see ya" and tell you to go elsewhere... I didn't want to pay more than 21.5 k but now it looks like mid 22's is what it's gonna cost me.... In a sense they are right, why discount me when in a few days some dummy will walk in and pay 3k more who sucks at negotiating or doesn't care?

The package, i didn't get into details with him.He just mentioned it's sold with all their cars, i will negotiate that with him. There IS a lot of elantra's around if you keep looking. Although many are just getting 12's.... This dealer in bradenton told me the reason why 12's are out already is the pain for 11's come from japan and is hard to get now.. LOL? I need to google that one... I'm wary of Jenkins Hyundai in Bradenton, always have been

_Go to Truecar.com and try your zip code, then try others around you to a distance you would be willing to travel. I got three quotes around Orlando, FL for $21,863 with the premium package, ipod cable, wheel locks and carpeted floor mats They should honer the price they quote although, they would most likely add a Doc fee or some such. Additionally, If you find one low enough you might be able to use it to bargain with a closer dealer. This is a popular car but that does not mean you should get hosed. The 2012 model was $22,543 with the same options, and might be worth looking into.

It is simply a way for them to add a "premium" to the price of the car. They wanted the same thing on my car, it was $1495 extra for nothing I wanted. When he mentioned it I started to leave and I got the worthless package for nothing.
The pinstripe is not painted it is a stick on, I can remove it at anytime. All of the "protection" package is BS too. Wax
and scotchguard. Nitrogen ? LOL ! Just refuse it, if they don't want your business go somewhere else or buy something else. You can't be in love with a car and show them that. If you are do they will walk all over you. BE STRONG !

Pretty simple... pinstripes and all of those protection package doodads are not mandatory in any way. Tell them you'll do business elsewhere and they'll probably change their minds pretty quickly. Car shopping is ALL about being educated and walking in with confidence. The second a salesperson senses a lack of either of these, you've just entered the shark pool. It's sad, but people are taken on their deals more often than not. It's how they make their money. I learned all of this the hard way myself and then chose to educate myself to the point that most dealerships in town now know who I am on site.

Even if the car has the pinstripe you can take them off with ease if you do it right. i also have a black 2011 elantra and i sorta liked the silver pinstripe....but then it got tacky so i took em off. just gotta apply heat on it so the goop doesnt leave a trail from the sticker. even if you did something wrong you can use products like goof off to remove the sticker leftovers

You don't want the package, don't pay for it! Have them take that off the neg price of the car, or tell them you'll go to the Honda dealer! I did not pay for the "extra" crap mine came with, nor should you. The pinstripe does look good, though. The car dealers around here are just as rotten, too. When can we just buy a car online without ever swimming with the sharks?

The dealer is trying to pull a fast one on you. Tell him that you do not want the package and if he insists it still mandatory, tell him you will take your business somewhere else if they cannot provide you with a car without the package or throw the package in for free.

All this stuff was added at the dealer at a huge markup purely for the sake of increased profit. Don't let them play you.
