We bought a used 2010 SONATA 2.4L GLS last year. It currently has 50k miles.
Over the past couple of weeks, we noticed that in the morning or after it has been sitting for a while (like at work) it jerks when either decelerating at the 20 mph mark or braking at the 20 mph mark. It only happens at those times. Rest of driving it is great.
Because we bought it from someone else it is not covered by the 10yr/100,000 mile warranty. Also because it is over 5 years it is not covered by the 5yr/60,000 mile warranty.
Please help.

Sound like another chassis that not had the PCM & TCM updated ,, few yr ago some of them was recall for update, others was done as they show up,,,, silly Hyundai Motor Co..

Anyway, visit dealer, Job 1 --> Customer States "harsh down shift COLD around 20 MPH when slowing down to stop"...

Do full fault code search... PRINT

Verify PCM & TCM up to date (Events 184 & 185)... do this while car is hot,, and then after update, reset Adaptive learn for transmission, hop in and do initial test drive while still hot to start the learn process...

Have them print E-Report off GDS to reflect fault code search results,, both program success and reflect learn reset, and you want a copy to see scan results and that that the programs successfully installed, along with reset.. all tis will reflect on report if done correctly.. you paid for it, they should give it to you..

Print this reply and hand it to them if they look at you funny or start to give you any grief.. Tech ID --> HMA0000XXXXX provided this info
