Hi, 2008 Accent with 118k miles.
2 wks ago sluggish to start and loss of power while trying to merge on freeway. took to shop and they recommended replace crankshaft and camshaft position sensors ($700) and timing belt/ water pump ($1200). Shop was unable to recreate loss of power.
I replaced the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors, but still have check engine light on. (parts bought from amazon, not OEM though). Bought a code reader and it recommended change oil control solenoid, which I did. Still have CEL on. Car starts easily, runs smooth, accelerates smoothly.
Unable to clear code using code reader. P0014, P0014 code in a Hyundai Accent indicates a problem with the camshaft timing in the bank of cylinders that contains cylinder 1 and is in the exhaust, rear, or right position.
suggestions?
thanks in advance!

edit: code is P0016: crankshaft position - camshaft position correlation- bank 1 sensor A
what is sugestion for the "right" parts? All the amazon parts are $15 or less for camshaft position sensor. Doesn't accelerate smoothly. autozone has them from $24 to $117 (https://www.autozone.com/searchresult?searchText=camshaft position sensor 2008 hyundai accent)
ill do some checking of the voltages tomorrow.
Well, I will venture you do not need sensor, as the PCM is receiving input from the sensors for position data, and PCM is seeing the cam and crank to not be in proper time positions

So why is the PCM deeming the cam and crank to be out of correlation ?

Is the timing belt off by tooth or more ?

Is the CVVT not operating proper ?

Do we have clean oil, and a Hyundai "35505" blue spin on filter ?

Is the OCV clean and functional ?

Is the OCV oil filter clean ?

Does the tach work if equipped ?

Could not have needed sensor because the engine starts and runs, and PCM determined the 2 items that need to correlate not in time sequence

- General Description
A Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) is a magnetic type sensor that generates voltage using a sensor and a target wheel mounted on the crankshaft. The PCM calculates engine RPM by using the sensor’ s signal and controls the injection duration and the ignition timing.

Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) is a hall sensor and detects the camshaft position by using a hall element. It is related with Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) and detects the piston position of the each cylinder which the CKPS can’t detect.

This CMPS signal is sent to the PCM and it uses CMPS signals for determining the ignition timing with CKPS signals. CMPS makes Sequential Injection possible.

- DTC Description
If the deviation between CKPS and CMPS is bigger than the threshold value, PCM sets DTC P0016.

update: took car in to shop and they verified all sensors okay. next they removed the valve cover to manually adjust the timing since the timing belt was in good condition. Next they have told me it appers the timing chain mechanism has lost a tooth. They are waiting for hyundai to give them a parts quote for timing chain replacement, as well as the necessity to look for metal fouling since the lubrication was not optimal while out of time.
with only 110k miles, this may be the end of the line for this car; KBB value is about $2500. I might just scrap it if the repair is over 1800. bummer.
