1.6 CRDi engine vs 1.0 T-GDI engine

Hi,
in past I've been driving wagon with 1.6 CRDi engine 110KM @ 4000RPM, D4FB production year 2014. Now I'm looking into getting wagon with petrol 1.0 T-GDI 120KM @ 6000RPM. Are those engine somehow comparable? There is an opinion that diesel engines are more elastic, is that myth? and I will be getting better performance from petrol anyway.

I did a test drive and it was too short to draw any conclusion. But I've bought a 1.0 T-GDI anyway and after 10 months I've decent opinion about diesel vs petrol with same horsepowers.

The diesel has most of the power / drag between 2000 - 3000 rpms.
The petrol has most of the power / drag between 2000 - 4000 rpms.

For diesel it means that without shifting the gear you can speed from example 40km/h to 60km/h. For petrol it's from 40km/h to 80km/h.

For diesel "engine drag" is compressed in narrow section. You have more drag than petrol, but you need to shift quicker, that means after shifting you can end up in not optimal rpms. That was actually quite common for me.

So if you're driving diesel with a speed that matches 2000 rpms, you will have more "drag" than a petrol. But you can drive with a speed that matches 2900 rpms and that basically forces you to shift gear or you won't have "drag" and by that time the petrol can already be ahead of you. That need to change gear, can sometimes suppries you while driving. On petrol you have less of it and driving is more relaxing.

This is not coming from an higher torque, but from an engine characteristic. It's a overall myth that diesel engine have more "drag" that is coming from a higher torque.

I think the diesel will out perform the petrol.
Rather than compare the power output, compare the torque figures. The diesel engine will have much greater torque (pulling power) than the petrol.
Murder it I would think whilst the GDI is spooling and trying to do something. Also outlast it in a very big way. I've driven a Kona with a 1.6T and down low it gutless, sure once it gets up there it may be fun but by then fuel consumption is also way beyond what you would expect. Hybrid may be an alternative.
