So I'm going to be getting my wife a Tuscan in the next few weeks and I'm wondering what the tune options are (if any) for this motor? I know the veloster has a 1.6 too, but I'm not sure if they user the same ECU/Motor. Anyone have any insight? I know the model is still really new but it's lack of power is my only concern.

There are not a lot of tune options for a Hyundai. Actually, I don't know of any for a Hyundai.

I think the Gen Coupe 2.0t has some but that's all I know.

It doesn't have a lack of power. But, the DCT can be paralyzed when driven by a clueless driver or typical braindead US consumer. DCT is not optimum for those that spend too much time in traffic, in city only driving patterns, or those that can't smoothly use/apply a gas pedal.

If the 1.6T/DCT "stock" doesn't work for you, then buy a different vehicle, like the sibling Kia Sportage turbo with a normal reliable slushbox.

Intake/exhaust should be plenty enough for many, if the noise is acceptable.

Tunes and turbo respond to premium fuel, which is also beyond the capability of most owners. LAP3 definitely works on the 2.0T and should be noticeably on the 1.6T.

When modding, one needs to take all maintenance and monitoring into consideration. I wouldn't bother with real temp gauges on the oil/antifreeze/gear-oil and a boost gauge. One might even consider EGT, IAT, A/F ratio... monitoring too.

Why buy a vehicle that needs to be modded? Hyundai is a depreciation nightmare and spending thousands modding one to be cool is foolish.

It's available tune for Tucson with 1.6 Turbo. I did gain about 15 to 20 HP / TQ on my Tucson. It's kinda fast like Classic Porsche.

Am I understanding correctly that you say you did have your Tucson tuned? Where did you find one and how much did you pay?

I heard back from SXTH Element. The flash is $249 and my options are mail them my ECU or purchase the ECU flashing unit ($469) to be able to do it myself.
I wonder how buried under the dash the ECU is and how difficult it would be to remove and Fed Ex to them? Also how quickly they could turn it around?

Oh wow, I didn't expect that price for ECU part.

I live closer to Sxth Element shop in Columbia, SC so it took me about hour and half to drive.

I didn't pay attention but I believe easy to take out. ECU behind the battery but I took my Tucson and let them use my Tucson because I am first customer to tuned but again it not done so I have to bring back to other tuned test on June.
