my car is at 63000 miles and the windshield washer just stopped working and wondering if this is covered by warranty? when i press the lever little bit of liquid squirts out and nothing and when i press the lever again all i hear is the motor spinning. has anyone experienced this before? also if this is not covered by warranty how much do you think the dealer will charge to have this fixed? Thanks in advance.

Simple item to diag if you think about it.. tank full of fluid, feed the pump, pump move volume of fluid in confined space = pressure to spray out nozzle orifice..

We hear pump run, so is pump getting fluid to it ? Inlet screen clogged ?

Does the pump actually move hive volume of fluid ?? Seperate hose at joint up near cowl prior to nozzles,, does fluid come out under mild stream, or dribble out ??

Tank full of fluid --> screen --> pump ----> hose joint ------------> nozzle ---> window

When i press my lever a little squirt of water does come out but after that nothing...but i do hear the sound from the pump though and if you wait a little then press the lever little bit of squirt comes out again...

Hey let me know if you resolved this issue by yourself? or if you had to take to the dealership... i'm really hoping to avoid what ever estimate that the local dealership will charge.......... thanks in advance.

when I poor windshield fluid in the plastic reservoir its not holding my fluid What does that mean?
When you put fluid in, check to see where it is coming out. you can undo the clips in the wheel well and underside of the bumper cover to pull back the black wheel well to see better. Look for cracks, disconnected tube, etc.

If you can hear the pump motor working, the chances are the screen jets or filter inside the washer tank is blocked. From the tank, you'll see the rubber pipe that feeds the washers. About half way from the tank is a white plastic connector - gently prize one of the tubes off. First blow into the tube that leads to the screen washer. If that is blocked, try clearing it with a low pressure airline. If that's free, then its the tank filter. To clear this without removing the tank, try this - but make sure the engine is not hot or running. You'll need to cover all the electric connections near the tank with plastic, then lay an absorbent towel around the top of the tank to soak up water. Now, blow hard down the tube or use a low pressure electric air pump. This should blow the muck away from the filter so it floats to the neck of the tank - you need to blow all the floating water/muck out. Its also possible that the tank maybe lined with algae (looks like small pieces of grey or black skin) and if so, this should start floating to the surface. Keep topping up the tank and blowing the all muck out. I may be a good idea to contact a main dealer and ask what you should put in the tank, to stop any more algae from forming. If in any doubt, take your car to a main dealer.
