I was just wondering what percent window tint i should get. I live in pittsburgh and basicly anything is illegal. Also i was wondering how well the tint adheres to the windows on the sonata. I have seen cars where the defroster lines prevent the tint from completely adhering to the back window and im trying to avoid that.

Percent tint is a personal choice - I'm sure you'll get different asnwers from posters swearing at other people's suggestions. Go to a shop and look at the options to decide what you like best.

I've used professional tint shops on my last 2 cars without any problems on the back windows. (Grand Prix GTP bought in 2002 and traded in 2011 for a Sonata SE 2.0T).
I used shops (one in NY and one in FL) that offered lifetime guarantees and, for the one in FL, had great online reviews.

I run 32 all around (except windshield) and find it is perfect day or night in all weather and happens to be legal (or very close) pretty much everywhere I would go. I think 20 would be the lowest I would ever go since I had 5 on my old '94 Accord and while it looked nice against the Champagne body color and was wonderful in the sun, it was really too dark at night and bad weather.

I got 20% on front and back. I'm in SC but I think I'm still breaking the law with 20% (it's either 25% or 28%).

Anyway, to be quite honest, if I had to do it over again, I'd go lighter. Don't get me wrong, I like being able to stare at people while driving and them not be able to see me very well. But it is difficult for me to see when making turns at night (especially in my neighborhood which isn't incredibly well-lit).

I do like the darker look though. I just can't see as well as I'd like.

Id say 15% is prob a good medium. Im getting mine done at the end of march I think. Ill have to post some pics up. I dont no how strict they are where you live but in most cases you can get away with going a bit darker on the back windows and go a tad lighter up front. Thats what ill do. Also take into consideration driving at night. 5% is maybe a little difficult to see out of at night...maybe not just cruising but if you have to back into a spot or something. Sounds stupid at first but you gotta think of those little things. Tint is expensive to get done correct so make sure you choose wisely ! Goodluck and post some pics when you get it done!

35% wasn't too bad. I had way too much tint on that vehicle. I rode around with the windows down a lot. I had 35% on the 'shield, 5% on the front doors and 2 coats of 5% on the back doors and rear window. Seeing wasn't an issue...I just didn't do it. I lost count of the number of times I was stopped.
