Well lets start off I was going to my girlfriends house and here comes this guy racing hes cobalt he tops the hill slides around over corrects and slams the front end of his car (almost head on) into the side of my accent it pushes me off the road into a ditch the my car slides head on into the bank after the rear end slides around....both of the side airbags came out along with the one in the driver seat.

Ill post pics when I goto the wreckers.

but **** did it hurt

Thank GOD for Hyundai building safe cars

Oh man, that really sucks! The important part is that you're still here to tell us about it. The car can be replaced, you can't! It's good the safety equipment was there and that it did its job.

Hopefully your Accent put a hurtin' on the Cobalt. How'd that car turn out?

Any ideas what you'll be looking at for your next ride? Hopefully all works out well with the insurance. Take care man, and keep us posted on how you're doing.

If the seat/curtain/driver frontal air bags are all deployed, you've got a massive bill just to replace those and all associated equipment. On top of the air bags themselves, you've got to replace the controller computer thingy and probably all sorts of wiring harnesses. It may need a new seat belt on the driver's side since I bet the pretensioner also fired. If you can get away with getting that stuff replaced for $3-4K I'd be surprised. And then on to all the structural stuff...

I'd say she's totaled or at least should be if the insurance company has some sense!

Do you have GAP insurance on it to kick in if the insurance company doesn't give you enough to cover the loan?

This stuff is always messy, I sure hope it works out for you quick and as painless as possible.

I have crashed my accent 3 times... the first time the drivers airbag deployed and i had to get the whole front passanger side replaced costed almost $15,000 for insurance to fix but they didnt total it because i only had 600miles. Second accident i sideswiped someone in the lane to the right of me because a car was heading towards me in my lane costed $3,000 to repair car still drives fine. Third accident a friend of mine was driving infront of me took a turn and stoped in middle of the road and I came around and rear ended him. Every fluid was leaking out my car and sparks were flying out the hood $5,000 to repair...(that was like a week ago) got it back not the engine is having problems and the crankshaft is jumping sparks to the frame. My car is on its 4th front bumper and passanger fender. Had a new frame rail installed after first accident on passanger side. Airbags only deployed on first accident. In regards to your car each airbag costs roughly $2,000 for the front because they are dual stage and probably about the same for the side.
