Being so new its hard to find any information, but i have a Ruby Wine Limited with Ultimate package and the walkup welcome lights/lighted front handles are not lighting, anyone else having this issue? I've tried just walking up to the car to see if they turn on, unlocking from key fob etc. I can see the light on the back side where its at but nothing lights up.

Called Hyundai and the rep was insistent that I take my vehicle to the nearest dealership for an "inspection". Told her that dozens of people are having the same problem and I wasnt going to waste my time driving to the dealer. She gave me a case number and said they would be in touch if this becomes a known issue.

Is everyone here having the same issue with the red courtesy lights at the bottom of the door, or just the door handle welcome lights? I'm thinking that they're connected because neither of mine work. I checked the manual in case they are just reflectors, but it does mention they should illuminate when the door is open. Do any of yours work? Thanks!

I don't see this as a problem. They have showed this on their web page from the beginning that it is a delayed availability feature. Many manufactures do this. Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that the public was notified before any car was sold. The only question in my mind is, when will it be available and will sold cars have this feature installed at no cost?

If they said the availability is delayed then why is the feature listed on the window sticker of my car and also why would they tell us that this is a problem? They would've told us that the feature has a delayed availability, but they never said that and neither has anyone I have talked to about this at Hyundai.

Just looked at my window sticker, I agree with you, it is listed on my sticker also. Should be on the car that was delivered and I think it should be the deciding factor on whether we get it or not. Personally, I did not know it was a feature when I leased mine. I was so impressed with the car I even missed it not having memory seats until the sales person was explaining how everything works, which was after I signed the papers. In either case, they would not have been deal breakers.

Update: I spoke with a rep at Hyundai Canada today, and she confirmed the issue with the welcome/courtesy lights is a known issue. They are in the process of releasing a software update to the dealerships - once installed, the lights should work accordingly. She said to contact your local dealership's service department to confirm if they have received the update already, and if not, they can advise you once they have it. Glad to hear it's only a software update required to fix!

Unfortunately, I can't speak to the issue (or availability) with the lights on U.S. models. However, in Canada they ARE installed on Limited/Ultimate models, but require an update to work properly. Hope that helps!

We have a Ultimate Tucson on hold. Waiting to deliver.

I don't see the welcome light listed on the window sticker anywhere. This is the US version.

Only place I see it listed definitely and unconditionally is in the brochure, where it does not state "Delayed availability". There is even an image of it.

Emailed dealer today about this issue. Waiting to hear back.

Ok, so a slightly different version of the story. Just got an email from my salesman who today spoke with Hyundai Canada on this issue. He has been told that 1882 Tucsons were manufactured with "without" the welcome light and that they are making a kit that can be installed at the dealership. No ETA on the part at this time.

Penone - U R correct. It is the start of the countdown for the rear gate to open. It is a brief chirp with blink of side view mirror and tail light but the sequence stops when I reach the driver side door. This is what made me think it was a welcome feature but it does not happen if I approach from the front or side.

I'll check again today but it seemed like I heard/saw this as I was approaching the driver's door. I'll let U know.
MEANWHILE: I sent a message to Hyundai CS on line - as follows:
I purchased a new 2016 Tucson on 10/17/2015. I love the car and wish to register with Hyundai regarding an issue that has already been identified. The LED welcome light on the driver's door does not function. Online interactions with other new Tucson Limited owners confirms that this is a feature not functioning on all Limited trims. Reportedly Hyundai is aware of the problem and is working on a solution. I would like to be registered with Hyundai as being included in this fix. Thank you.

Is this adequate? Should I be making any other contacts at this point.
Thanks in advance.

I was looking more into the Tuscon and I noticed it now states "Illuminated exterior front door handles (delayed availability)" on the Sport.

Same Same here. Just picked up my '16 1.6 Ltd AWD on the 14th. Booked in for next Monday to get this issue confirmed.
Thanks to everyone else for posting up regarding this.

Not sure if I missed it, but is there an email address others have been using in Canada to get on the reported list?
If so, please share & I'll add to that list.

Cheers!

Hi everyone,

Writing from Turkey, where I have just bought (for my wife) a Euro Spec version of an almost fully loaded Tucson except auto tailgate, ventilated seats and electronic driver adjusted seat. Everything else is available from moonroof to heated steering wheel.

Anyway just tested and welcome lights are working for me, Euro cars are built at Czech Republic by the way.

Overall great small family car, great value for money.
