Bought the OE replacement from the distro center, they gave me a diagram that has me pulling a sensor that doesn’t look like the replacement part. Can someone help me out?

The one that came out here has three prongs, from the block and had oil come out a bit also. Not sure if they pointed me to the wrong area or what, I can’t seem to find a harness pigtail end that receives two prongs and bolts to the block like the replacement part does. Thanks in advance.

This is the part I think the diagram pointed to, for reference.

Why are we looking for water temp, you know this thing has (3) water temp sensor, none of which ever seen to have fault

The black piece in picture "with "oil come out" look like a cam position sensor, but you say came out of block ? Sure it not come off cylinder head in line with a cam, or more so adjacent with crankshaft ?

What is the 10 character number on that black piece ?

I was looking to find the coolant temperature sensor because of the scan from the local auto parts store indicating this was the reason I had a check engine light. I ordered the specific part that the local store would have ‘special ordered’ from the local distribution center for Hyundai and they printed off this diagram for me and indicated the circled part would be the location; the circled part is the fatter sensor (I agree, it looks similar to the camshaft position sensors on my G35) in the second picture, and not the problem sensor that caused the check engine light and malfunction. I located and identified the faulty sensor in the back passenger side of the engine, connnected to the coolant pump area on the side of the block. The vehicle is now operating normally.

No worries, I found the coolant temperature sensor on the back passenger side of the engine. I replaced it and the temperature was read immediately. I’ve cleared the codes and now the engine light is gone, and has not returned after a fifteen minute drive.

if anyone gets an issue with their codes for the ‘coolant temperature sensor’ at a local auto parts store when scanning codes, let me know in a reply to this thread or a personal message and I’ll link up with you and let you know exactly how I found the problem sensor/where it is
