Water Leaking Into Passenger Footwell

Ok first there was the "Creaking Dash Rattle", now comes the front seat flood! It has rained for two days and water, lots of it, comes pouring out onto my mats on the passenger side when I make a hard left turn. At least 8 ounces!!! I don't have a sunroof. My carpet and mats are soaked. After I shop vaccuumed the water out I took it to the dealer...just like the dash rattle he'd never heard of this problem. I told him maybe my rubber dash rattle wedge caused the problem? He said, I'd have to bring the car back and he was going to remove the shroud? (They're just dying to break into my dash). Anyone know anything about this problem? It looks like the glove compartment is taking a leak on the passenger's carpet. WTF????

Also My Bluelink can't be registered because someone before me registered it ON MY NEW CAR...and I am starting to wonder if this was a hail damaged car improperly repaired? i.e. leaks and windshield rattle. I bought it off of the showroom floor and assumed it was new but when I drove it away I saw 200 miles on the ODO. Don't say it I know I screwed up. Constructive help please.

Maybe, but how is it that an hour and a half at the dealer and all he can tell me is that I'll have to bring it back so they can remove the shroud?

So I took it through the car wash today to refill my $33K squirt gun and sure enough it wee wee'd all over itself an hour later. Forgive my sarcasm, but when it rains it pours (at least on my passenger).

Thanks to all! Mystery solved. Turbofan I searched water leaking and found that alex_18 described the EXACT same problem. He stated that the "ac is fixed now, technician unclogged the drain plug". As my dealer had my car for an hour and a half and was unable to figure this out, or fix the problem, I've asked Alex to be a bit more specific so I may "help" my dealer who has never heard of any of this (or the dash rattle) before.

Shame on me for not first doing a search. But what about my Hyundai dealer, a dealer who has to rely on me to tell him where to look or how to fix it? I've only had the car a few months and this is not starting well. :(

I would try to act surprised by this statement but you would see right through it. Not all dealers are incompetent. But some show a real flair for it.

Oakie, don't get me wrong. I don't think that poorly of the guys at my dealership (I just get a wee bits grumpy sometimes). Overall they treat me well, but I wish they'd log onto this website and stay up on things a bit more. Like the price of a new car my expectations of what is acceptable have also risen.

So Oakie are you anywhere near Enid Oklahoma? That's where I went to AF pilot training. Oklahoma people are the nicest in the world!

Thank you for that compliment, Skyking! No sir, not near Enid. Moore! Home of the EF-5's and all that it entails. We appear to be living on the "wilder side" of the state! Makes life interesting, that way.

And your point is well taken. I think the service techs at most dealerships are top rate. But, oftentimes, something gets lost in the translation between them and the service writers and the service manager. You show me a top shelf service manager and writer, and certified techs in the bays? I'll show you a dealership with a one week waiting period to get your oil changed! Such is mine. And I'm thrilled to death to wait! Just takes a little advanced planning on my part.

From one old vet to another: Thank you for your service, sir!

I'm having the same problem and this is the second time that it has happened. We brought it to the dealership and they cleaned out the drain hose. Now it's wet again, less than two months later. Very frustrating for the amount new cars cost.

I'm trying to find out the cause of this and a permanent solution.

Did they give you any reason that this is happening?

Thanks

Casper, I'll call the dealer tomorrow to confirm what they did and post asap. But as I recall it was something very similar to Golfermack's helpful suggestion as seen below. Whatever they did, it worked.

I unhooked the tube, straightened it, and stuck a baby's aspirator up there and sucked out some clog. Next thing you know, all this fluid started to come out. Drained for about 10 minutes.
Drove the car later with the AC on, and no leakage! My floormat and carpet are soaked, but hopefully that'll dry soon. Thanks for the help!

Water leak and very frustrated

Hello all,

I have a 14 Santa Fe Sport with out a sunroof as well. The dealer can make the car leak there are no clogged tubes A/C or cowling but they are saying its a manufacturing defect and there is no fix. Can everyone please check their cabin air filters as mine is dripping wet and gross and moldy. This can't be safe for anyone to breath.

I opened a case with Hyundai and BBB and I have sent all the invoices to an attorney.
