Walk-away automatic door lock

My car is equipped with the smart key system. I wonder if there is such a feature that will automatically lock the doors after getting out and walking away without locking the car either from the remote or the door handle.

I asked my dealer about it a few years ago and he was surprised it did not work. But he was unable to find any way to enable it and then concluded it was not possible...

Other cars do have similar features that lock the car when the key fob is not in the range - for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0ICgS3GbSU

To each his or her own. I like the idea but I'm a bit of a control freak . . . saying that, maybe having it lock after 30-45 minutes might be useful, though. But too much less than that would be too much. And would it actually engage if the prox key was left inside?

I looked hard for anything about this in my 2013 owners manual. I could not find anything. Then I went out to the car...no auto lock and I could not find any way to reprogram. So, I assume my 2013 premium pack without the nav does not have this feature. However wouldn't the owners manual have had an explanation about this with an (IF EQUIPED) above it? How may versions of the owners manuals are out there?

There is a different feature that may be a source of confusion. If you unlock the door but don't open it, it will be re-locked automatically after a delay. There is a short notice about it in the manual: "After pressing the button, the doors will lock automatically unless any door is opened within 30 seconds."

The original question was about a different feature: when the proximity key is away, the door shall be automatically locked (could be after a delay) even if you opened the door. I named it "walk-away auto door lock". So, does anyone really have the walk-away auto door lock feature in your Santa Fe?

Right.. if you remote with the phone to open the doors, and none are opened in 30 sec. They self lock again. So someone has to be right there.
If you accidentally unlock the car doors as you walk away.. they will self lock in 30 sec if no one opens a door.
My wife's old Vericruz had a remote trunk release. One day we went to a restaurant and after waiting a bit to get our table I glance out the door and the trunk is open. Must have hit the button. Have to physically press the "close" button on the door to close it.
