I would like to replace the oem speakers that came with my tucson. Has anyone tried to remove the door panels yet? I cannot figure how to remove the little plastic covers over the screws without damaging them
thanks... :D

why do you want to change the speakers? they are unlike the other Hyundai crap ones. They are JVC with tweeters on the wing mirror.
Anyway, to replace. Remove the 3 plastic stoppers on the edge of the doors, and the plastic cap under the wing mirror on the door and unscrew. Then Remove the plastic cover underneath the door handle (internal of course) and unscrew. Gently price of the plastic cover by the door mirror. The door moulding then lift off.
This is the same for the rear doors.

oopsy. just seen the above link!

I used a terminal driver to prize the grey covers off the screw you will find that the screw is held in with a plastic holder that fit in to the door card .there are two other screws that don't have covers on them .one is just under the door handle on the inside and the other is in the air port hole just under the tweeter .the door cards are very well built .you will find the original speakers at the bottom of the door .if you want to change them you will have to remove the plastic and paper that make up the poor speakers and then you will be left with spacers KEEP THEM .replacements are very hard to find and they cost as much as some speakers and you need 4 !! .all you need to do is select the new speaker after measuring the space to fit in whats left of the original speaker housing .and then just connect up you may have to chop the manufactured ends off and solder to the new speaker ..what ever you don't don't try to fix directly to the door without using the spacers .doing this will cause the glass to catch on your new speakers ..I am in the middle of this project I am about to remove the original speakers and select new ones .I have not yet decided weather to go for component of normal type speakers ....NOTE you may be wondering why the sound is so poor if you have changed the factory fitted head unit ..when it sounded good whit the original speakers ..its because the head unit and speakers were very well matched ..I have changed from the VDO hyundia badged head unit as the cd drive failed ..again this is a well known fault and Hyundai have already changed it under the fantastic warranty once .and now the car is out of warranty I have to pay myself I chose an alpine unit .its very good but I am having problems with the speakers as I have not yet ripped out the old ones wish me luck

Straker is correct in his post. I did my replacement last weekend. I didn't use spacers, though. The speakers I used, fit with no problem. I installed Infinity 6032 si up front and JBL gto-638 in the rear. Both pair are shallow mount with 2" mounting depth. The sound improvement is amazing. Still using the stock head unit and no amp or sub-woofer.
