When i open the hood, it lifts itself without effort, but when I open the trunk lid I must lift it myself (actually my wife is complaining about this saying it's difficult to lift up).

I wonder if this is a feature or i have a problem with my car...

Same here - it is rather annoying...

Ya, that's a little annoying. Maybe it's a safety feature.

I'm wondering though... what if you bolt on a stronger strut? Only problem I can see is, if the strut pushes too hard on the trunk lid, it could possibly make the automatic latch jam. Struts are very inexpensive. It would only cost $8-$10 bucks to find out! :)

I'm glad my trunk doesn't lift up since I end up unlocking the trunk all the time with just having the keys in my pocket at home.  It would be wide open all night instead of just unlatched.

It doesn't have anything to do with the keys in your pocket. I thought that too until I locked my car one day while standing next to the trunk. I heard the trunk lock click on its own.

A while back I kept finding the trunk unlocked so I flipped the switch in the trunk and now it will only open with the key. There is some kind of problem with key fob or whatever they call that thing that locks and unlocks your car. Somehow it is activating the trunk switch.

From just pushing the key fob mine won't open on its own, just unlatch. Once I've lifted it about 6-8 inches it will lift itself the rest of the way nice and slow. Same with the hood. I, for one, am very glad it don't take off on its own right after pushing the unlock button.

I've never had my key fob malfunction or the trunk - it never unlocks on its own. But if I did happen to accidently push the button and didn't realize it I wouldn't have to worry about the trunk opening on its own while I'm walking away from the car.

i'm actually shocked that the new Camry and current Accord use gooseneck hinges instead of gas shocks for the trunk lid. i suppose in the long run its cheaper to replace a hinge but it sure isn't as nice.

You may be surprised. The struts are probably a standard part that can be found at many auto centers. Regular hinges are specific to certain makes and models, and are probably very expensive.

That's is the way it is set... The Azera opens quite easy, because it has a better strut... I don't remember if it has one or 2.
If it is a big problem for some people... I would go look at the Azera, and buy a similar strut- (i think it is a gas strut.)
