I don't mind it much, strange as it sounds I kinda like the little kids toy soundin' jingle. :w00t: lol! I did take some foam camper tape and wrapped it around the chime to help quiet it down a little.

You can unplug it if you so desire, AFAIK it has no ill effects. If you remove the glove box and look to your left at the angled brace that runs downward, you will see it mounted to the top side of the brace about halfway down. It is a small rectangular metal box... Just unplug the wiring harness that runs to it and you should be OK.

Why is the chime annoying? It only goes off if you forget your key or leave your seatbelt unbuckled.

The ScanGauge I bought from here. It's the original version, I've had it for 2 years now. They have a much nicer looking (and smaller) version out now. Scan tool plus real time gauge readings for all kinds of things plus a trip computer - I highly recommend one. Works with pretty much anything >1996 that is OBD-II compliant.

 

LOL just ordered one!! thanks for the link! :thumbsup: now if i can only find a place to mount my Audiovox XM receiver, then i'll be set.... just not any flat surfaces in an '08 accent..... will be posting pics when i do the stereo install!

Why not go with the hidden mounted XM reciever, that way you don't clutter up the dash?

 

I don't mind the dinger so much except when it is really cold, mine kinda clinks instead of dings (clink clonk instead of ding dong). I will def go with insulating mine as soon as we have warmer weather here.

It does get sounding kinda bad when it's really cold... Sounded great last week when I fired it up and it was 5 degrees out. :grin:

You should hear what it does when your door is open, battery is weak and you try to start the engine... it was sounding like dragging a wrench across concrete, just a fast paced clink clink clink. lol!

 

iunno about you guys, but right now in saskatchewan, its ****in cold!!! like minus 40 F and mine still works and dings like when its warm...

 

I think the Canadian models have engine block and chime module heaters. :grin:

 

they must have them work off the battery too cuse ive never plugged it in. :banana:

 

Under the dash, passenger side, nest to the radio, just pull apart the switch connector. I did it and no I only see the little dash lite when I am unbuckled or the door open. :beer:

 

i unplugged mine when i changed out the in dash stereo unit... then i proceeded to destroy it... now to replace the annoying **** horn... i mean u cant even hear the shitter and its so asain

 

my dinger is no longer dinging!! try hookin up yer new scan gaugeII with the doors open, keys in and engine running... the dinger sounds like its IN yer ear!! while running wire, and glove box open, i found the lead for the dinger and yanked it!!! woohooo!!!! even when the temp drops in the 'teens, it sounds more like a *****, ***** LOL i like my little hot wheel Accent!

 

yeah this is one of the things that should be a sticky that i had mentioned.....we have pictures of where its at and how to do it..... :whistling:


and yes that horn is even more annoying than the ding dong from the the door chime!
